Would You Class The Eu As A " Tyranny "?

Clearly they are not openly using the traditional tyrannical methods but I assert that the imposition of arbitrary rules and a an unstoppable march to federalism by an unelected corrupt entity does constitute a form of Tyranny over independent democratic nations. What say you?

Tyranny Def. Dictionary. com. Noun. "Arbitrary or unrestrained exercise of power; despotic abuse of authority." I consider that definition to describe the EU methods perfectly.

I'm not a big fan at all of the EU but I think your statement "The EU is governed by the commission et al and they are not elected." is a little misleading in that they are nominated by member countries and there is some sort of voting/approval by the MEPS amd /ability to dismiss but I'd agree that in practice it seems to have a pretty free rein.
From WIkipedia:
"While the commission is the executive branch, the candidates are chosen individually by the 28 national governments, which means it is not possible for a commission member or president to be removed by a direct election. Rather, the legitimacy of the commission is mainly drawn from the vote of approval that is required from the European Parliament, along with its power to dismiss the body, which, in turn, raises the concern of the relatively low turnout (less than 50%) in elections for the European Parliament since 1999. While that figure may be higher than that of some national elections, including the off-year elections of the United States Congress, the fact that there are no elections for the position of commission president calls the position's legitimacy into question in the eyes of some.[84] The fact that the commission can directly decide (albeit with oversight from specially formed 'comitology committees') on the shape and character of implementing legislation further raises concerns about democratic legitimacy.[85]

The anti-EU brigade cannot make up their minds whether Brussels is some form of cunning, insidious force with an inexorable masterplan to subjugate humanity, or an incompetent bunch of bureaucrats.
So it is, it seems, in their minds, both. The ability to hold parallel, contradictory thoughts has not to date fallen a victim to Big Brother then :-)

the problem is ZM that you seem to qualify everything with "....that has effected our daily lives" - which has been answered many times. Most of this does not effect us day to day but neither does Alzheimer's at first but at some point you wake up and find all your faculties have failed or are failing. We are suffering a slow erosion of our way of life, I am amazed you cannot see it.
One could argue that anything that comes out of the Commision is despotic as dictating to sovereign nations is, by nature, unreasonable. The rubber stamping of policy in the Parliament, the members of which are voted for, in a fashion, is merely a veneer, a facade of token democracy, so doesn't count for much.
