Would You Class The Eu As A " Tyranny "?

Clearly they are not openly using the traditional tyrannical methods but I assert that the imposition of arbitrary rules and a an unstoppable march to federalism by an unelected corrupt entity does constitute a form of Tyranny over independent democratic nations. What say you?

Tyranny Def. Dictionary. com. Noun. "Arbitrary or unrestrained exercise of power; despotic abuse of authority." I consider that definition to describe the EU methods perfectly.

Erm, it's a bit of a "first world problem" to insist the EU is a tyranny. If anything it is overly bureaucratic, lacks transparency and is too beholden to special interests, but it's hard to identify anything genuinely despotic about living in an EU country. It has no secret police, it does not murder or imprison political opponents, it does not make any use of forced labour, the fabled "EU Army" has supposedly been "just around the corner" for at least a decade and a half. It does not fit any reasonable definition of "tyranny" and insisting it does sounds a little bit sheltered and ignorant.
Togo, ‘Haha. Some of us have waited 40 years to find proof that it enhances it‘ other than us being one of the wealthiest countries in the world you mean?
Don’t take my word for it. Here’s an FT report from 2014:

I’m not saying membership of the EU is entirely or even majoritarily responsible for this but to claim it did us any harm would be rather disingenuous.

From a very much earlier post:
"Tyranny Def. Dictionary.com. Noun.
"Arbitrary or unrestrained exercise of power;"
The EU does exercise power which is unrestrained in any meaningful way. Any attempts to restrain it are met with repeated attempts to do the same thing until the required result is achieved. This effects 500m people and they have no meaningful way of preventing this exercise of power.
It seems the argument here is what actually amounts to "tyranny". In my book any organisation which enacts legislation that influences half a billion people without those people having some form of control certainly fits the above definition of tyranny. Once again, it's not what they do, it's the fact that they have the power to do it.

cassa, we've had leave voters on here claiming they voted leave because they cant get their favourite lightbulbs, or a decent vacuum cleaner, one of them thought we'd all voted for Theresa May to be PM, people claiming the EU are tyrannical or Despots and recently, someone who isn't aware of basic facts like we didn't sign up to Schengen (yes, you fender).
If your talking about the average IQ of voters then the evidence shows you should be looking a little closer to home for those with a distinct lack. You belittle yourselves with your ignorance and failure to provide any evidence of concrete ways in which the EU affects us. No need for me to do anything other than highlight your errors.
