//is manned by//. Is this sexist?
If I was asked that question , I would have said that I had a female with me
'we would love to see more AA women in yellow vans' (but they would probably prefer pink ones.

Don't know Talbot, that seems to be a dodgy coin of phrase to me.
A bit tardy AOG. 12.57 ^^^
Would this woman be happy to wait on a dark lonely or exceedingly busy road for hours to get an AA person to her or is she content to be prioritised as a lone female?

She can only chose one mind you and the answer should be consistent with her sexism complaint.
It's stories like this which make the Daily Mail what it is.

A-hem.
Someone I used to work with said, tongue-in-cheek, that you couldn't relace "man" with "person" because that had a male connotation - you had to use "peroffspring" or similar.
If her daughters want to do men's work, they will be allowed to. Meanwhile, apparently, women's work is never done.

While at the same time being 'lady-like' seems to have gone through the window these days, for some.
/// I agree with you, Talbot, it's being gentlemanly. ///

It's not really. It's about women stranded on their own perhaps out in the middle of nowhere being vulnerable to attack by nutters.

Even men can be attacked by nutters.

In the continuous strive for equality, we should all be treated equally, men as well as women.

True, but I'd feel better about my son being stranded alone somewhere than my daughter, so I have no problem with the AA's policy. Perhaps that makes me sexist.

And quite rightly so too, but the problem now is that the feminist brigade makes one feel that we should all be treated the same and to think otherwise is patronising towards women.

Perhaps when signing up a new customer the AA should ask if they want priority for call-outs and charge a higher fee if they do. Priority only given to anyone on the higher rate (including men).
