/// Third, there is no excuse for a driver to simply run over a cyclist who is in their way. ///
The driver did not run over the cyclist, in fact he never even touched him.
*** The Volkswagen almost hits the cyclist while trying to pull out into traffic which appears to start the confrontation. ***

The driver appeared to almost hit the cyclist who had to move out the road to avoid him.
The driver also appeared to hit something when he tried to squeeze between the van and the car from which the video was filmed.
Having said that, there's no justification for having that knife or attacking the car with it.

as CD says - hitting someone with a car is every bit as lethal as hitting them with a knife. Far more drivers kill cyclists than the other way round (I imagine the latter figure is zero). On this occasion it appears neither was hurt, but a careless driver is almost certainly more dandgerous to the general public than a man with a knife.

You're correct - the driver did not run the cyclist over.
However, he/she pulled out, and went straight into the cyclist without checking what was coming. The driver then crashed into the oncoming car. I submit that the driver is every bit as dangerous as the cyclist. It's just they have different weapons.

But I thought there were no black cyclists.
