I fail to understand the word 'appropriation' when what they mean is 'misappropriation'. As for the theme, there is nothing cultural about food, otherwise the Chinese and Indian takeaways would soon be out of business.
webbo3, its very nice depending on how its done, i had a lovely chicken on skewers bbq with jerk rice, its actually how its spiced correctly
wow taste.
How do you make jerk rice?
Preparation
Heat oil in large skillet on medium heat. Add onion; cook and stir 2 minutes or until softened.
Stir water, Rice Mix and jerk seasoning into skillet. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 15 minutes.
Stir in peas and carrots. Cover and cook 10 minutes longer or until rice is tender.
webbo3, good one, i tend to fry onions off then add the spice, have to be careful not to burn spices tend to go acrid and bitter, but yea sounds good to me..love rice very versatile, also pasta, never understand people who say erm to expensive to cook decent food.
I usually buy my jerk paste from a Rasta lad at the local car boot. His mum makes it, he sells it but he hasn't been around lately I hope he's ok. I have run out.
