I really do not recall this case. Considering the murder was filmed by the press I'm surprised this is the first I have learnt of it.
Any one else recall this murdering nutter at the time?

And what has that got to do with it.
He went there armed - you can even see the holster on his belt. He murdered a poor innocent man in cold blood. Can you imagine the horror of it to his wife and familly? You go to work on a council job to enforce building planning and end up dead, shot in cold blood.
Ther eare no two ways about it, he should have swung. We have right-on liberals to thank for the fact he didnt.

That is why people like this can take life with impunity. I suppose we will get the cobblers now about it costs more to execute a man than it does to house and feed an obviously guilty man for 26years. :-( //
I have said many many times on this site, that logic dictates that no-one kills another person with the notion of potential punishment at the forefront of their mind at the time.
If they did consider the consequences, then they would not commit the crime.
But simple human nature intervenes - in the case of a murder, which people excluding psychopaths tend to do just once, it is usually a crime of instant reaction, and if it is planned, then the notion of being caught is not factored in at all.
Yes, as a society, we elect to confine our murderers in prison, and yes it does cost the tax payer money, but personally, I don't weight the value of a life in economic terms, and the notion of murdering a murderer to save money is morally repugnant.

and the notion of "murdering" a murderer to save money is morally repugnant.
Known as judicial execution not murder.
I can't believe you know what is going through the mind of a person who is about to commit premeditated murder. If you do your talent is wasted.
I am sure the photographs of daddy being gunned down in cold blood are equally repugnant to his surviving children.
