I don't think the argument that it was about ideas rather than people makes any sense. The reason they disagree with gay citizens having equal rights to them is because they believe it is wrong to be gay for religious reasons. That is prejudice against people, not an abstract idea. Anyone who now wants to discriminate against a person for religious reasons can now point to this legal precedent and get away with it just fine so long as they insist it's the idea and not the person.

Well, yes, I'm under no illusions that this will be overturned. We're stuck with it now - service providers everywhere now have a legal basis to refuse service to gay people if they want to, so long as they just insist that it's the idea rather than the person. I can't say that delights me.

They have always had that legal basis.

Any shop can refuse to serve any customer, and is not obliged to give a reason - that's the law.

If the business owner feels they have to make an issue of their faith in order to refuse service, then they must accept the fallout that follows such a choice.
