Just read that Angela Merkel is to step down as leader of the Christian Democratic party after 20 years. The German Chancellor told leaders of her Christian Democrats (CDU) that she will not seek re-election as party chairwoman, a senior party source told Reuters.

It is understood she will remain Chancellor.

Always respected this world leader.
