Just read in the paper that the police have raided the home of two of the men (father and son) arrested in connection with the bonfire burning of the Grenfell Tower effigy.

Why?

The men for the most part went voluntarily to the police station and one can but assume at this stage have admitted to doing it. So what are the police looking for? The evidence is a pile of ashes in the garden. Are they looking for nursery style scissors and sticky tape?

What they did was in very poor taste and crass beyond belief and people are rightly outraged but I do think this is overkill.

may not face a charge as it was on private property ..private party..but not clever to put it on internet !! crass, outrageous behaviour.....there are quite a few around unfortunately...
Quite possible that the police are looking for something unconnected to the burning of the Grenfell Tower effigy.

They took away Gaffa tape as seen in the video and aerial photos showing the fire scorched garden.

I still think it is overkill and fuelled by ‘public outrage’.

There are plenty of things to get outraged in the world and even probably locally but this smacks of trial and lynch by media.
cass, someone reported this to the police,Do you think that they should have ignored it?
I should think the fall out that these idiots will be subjected to by neighbours ,and anyone who knows them and where they live, will be quite substantial, notwithstanding any police action that may result....I would imagine they are very aware of just how stupidly they have behaved by now....

Danny, no it couldn’t get ignored but press and media coverage has gone way over the top.

I think it’s OTT. People are way too sensetive in this day and age. Worse things happen than realising some of the population are about as thick as a whole loaf.
Spath, if you had lost someone in the Grenfell fire and saw the video of this how would you feel?
spath..with respect..a tad insensitive my friend
Danny i’d probally turn it off and think stupid people, like i did anyhow.
Spath, I did not ask what you would do, I asked how you would feel.
The world shouldn’t revolve around how people feel. Thats why the whole PC movement is getting OTT
Just keep dodging the question Spath.
Are they looking for nursery style scissors and sticky tape?

I would imagine they are/were looking for far-right paraphernalia and checking computers to find out if this was bigger than just a bunch of morons carrying out an idiotic idea.

its a hate crime and one to be investigated, perhaps there is something we aren't being told.
What has this incident got to do with PC?
Spath..wander down to North Kensington estate and say as much..you'll get a response !!!
I’m not sure this argument should revolve around identities or the demand for respect for particular sensitivities. People losing their lives in fires is not a joke - ever. It was a sick exercise orchestrated by morons.

So the police are (or could be) fishing? Looking for or hoping to find evidence of something further they can claim? Would that be because whatever charge they want to lay on them is flimsy and wouldn’t stand the courtroom test?

In what way is it a hate crime? Some people are upset because they were personally involved and I understand that but perspective seems to have gone out the window on this.
