Grenfell Tower Bonfire Effigy
Just read in the paper that the police have raided the home of two of the men (father and son) arrested in connection with the bonfire burning of the Grenfell Tower effigy.
Why?
The men for the most part went voluntarily to the police station and one can but assume at this stage have admitted to doing it. So what are the police looking for? The evidence is a pile of ashes in the garden. Are they looking for nursery style scissors and sticky tape?
What they did was in very poor taste and crass beyond belief and people are rightly outraged but I do think this is overkill.

Would that be because whatever charge they want to lay on them is flimsy and wouldn’t stand the courtroom test?
In what way is it a hate crime? Some people are upset because they were personally involved and I understand that but perspective seems to have gone out the window on this.
