We are far too trusting in this country.

When are we going to realise that many people who come to live here from abroad will lie, cheat and do whatever it takes to get a job, claim benefits, or live off the state.

We need to to MUCH tougher, if we did it would save us millions or even billions every year.

Saw a thing on TV the other day about a man (from Syria I think) who was given a council house.

He then applied to buy it at a huge discount under the right to buy scheme.

When the council went round to the house to interview him they found he was not even living there and subletting it to another person.

This type of scamming is going on all over the country as we are too trusting.

Canary- this thread is about someone (and others) who commit fraud by taking adavantage of this disaster and the generosity of those trying to help those in real need. By all means start a new thread about those legally using non-Dom status.
There seems to be a huge amount of misuse of council properties via illegal subletting and also related benefit fraud. I cannot understand how some councils seem to have no idea who is living in a property.

ff i can, our local authority has no idea apart from me perhaps as a social council tenant who lives in our block. Many are leaseholders and next door no one lives there, its a total shambles from a council point of view.
