danny, what's on the table doesn't equate to leaving the EU, and as I understand it the European court has ruled that we may revoke Article 50.

Whichever way you look at it, unless we leave without a deal, which I feel is very unlikely, we won't be leaving.
Danny, you're mixing up two separate confidence votes, though. A motion in the Commons "That this House has no confidence in HM Government" is a completely separate process from one internal to the Tory Party.
Naomi to revoke A 50 parliament will have to repeal the law whereby we leave in March.,
I think danny's sort of right, although no doubt if Parliament wills it they can find a way to move things very swiftly indeed. I think it would be possible to amend the EU (Withdrawal) Act to remove the specific date at the same time as requesting an extension of the Article 50 period, which is likely to be granted.

As for revoking Article 50 altogether, that surely *would* require entirely separate legislation along the same lines as the 2017 Notification Act,
danny, yes, but what's to stop them repealing it?
Wow, if only there was a competent and credible opposition. As it is, the Tories feel they can put a gun to their own heads, pull the trigger and still get away with it ...

With a competent and credible opposition, there would have been no election and there may even have been a government of national unity to get us through this mess. As it is, there is literally nobody capable.

I think Jim is talking about a VONC in the government in the House, all the non Tory parties could, in theory, get enough votes to unseat the government and force a GE. That would need some Tory rebels and the DUP to not support the government. The DUP are angry about the Ireland issues but I don't think they'd want to vote against the government in a VONC, last thing they want is pro republican Agent Cob and co, so that just leaves potential Tory rebels and Turkeys don;t usually vote for Xmas. That leaves the PM and the Tories in power. Thus the only way they have of stopping No deal brexit is somehow cancelling A50. I suspect they wont do that without some sort of mandate from the people so I'd say a second referendum is looking much more likely if the government are intent on ignoring the original referendum.
Jim, If that is true then watch out for challenge from Corbyn.
I don't think we've spent the last 2.5 years ignoring the first referendum ... we've spent it ignoring everything else!
I think Corbyn's deliberately waiting until after a vote on the Withdrawal Agreement.
She knows she's *** it because she's tooo scared to let the people have a vote. I wonder why......
Resign? they will have to prise her fingers from the door jambs of no. 10, - it may even require a blow-torch. Do not confuse sheer stubbornness with resolve.
Spath, the people have voted.
Yes, they have. And the people can vote again.

I wish supporters would call it what it is, a second referendum, rather than a "People's Vote", but there is absolutely no democratic principle against it. Quite the reverse, in fact.
In regards to the vote, her performance at today's PM's questions won't have won her any supporters. She dodged all of Corbyn's questions.
Which supporters?
danny, I agree. Shameful.
Naomi ???
Like she does every week, really. This time it was more noticeable than others.
That's referring to 14.43
