the subject of drones has been aired before in this forum, with the majority consensus being that the authorities should stop being drama queens, grow some and let drone flyers get on with managing their own affairs.
Indeed they are danny, so how often do you think this situation would arise every time we had to launch a missile?
Once a week? Once a day?
Or shall we just stack aircraft for hours and hope they’ve got enough fuel whilst we ‘take out’ the drone and pray that the AA missile doesn’t hit one of the hundreds coming in every hour?
Think about it.......
Chilldoubt, plenty of negativity from you, so what is your solution?

Well, sensible and viable ones for a start!
Firstly, it has to be legislated, that’s obvious.
After that, possibly ECM as I’ve said, but it’s tricky due to the proximity of other aircraft.
What don't we just get a frequency hacker and take control of them- as I said earlier it could be built into new builds and legislated for, airports could bring them down at will then. x
They need to rush through the technology that has been tested to disable the things. I would think it's next to impossible to find out who's controlling it. It's a despicable thing to do.
// Ludwig, your idea may close to the truth as the police have already decided that this is a deliberate act to disrupt the running of the airport. //
Yeah, and also they're saying it's not terrorism related - don't know how they know but they obviously do. I suppose it can sometimes get boring being a despot, and you need to do stuff to cheer yourself up every now and then
I wish the newspapers wouldn't call the drone operators "pilots" That gives them some sort of status and they are not pilots they are remote control operators. I wouldn't be surprised if it is some saddo operating it from a car so that they can move around and make a quick getaway if needed.
"I can't see why Airports couldn't be equipped with something to hijack the Drone's frequency and land it though. That could be legislated into new manufacture and purchase. That'd stop 'em dead in their tracks."
New ones are supposed to know where they are and refuse to go near places like airports, but to land instead. But if one wanted one could hack the software to achieve nuisance value.
Still unsure why it's taking so long to pinpoint the perpetrators. Signal must come from some transmitter somewhere.
Mushroom - I must have missed the thread where everyone decided that drones were wonderful, and all the operators were responsible enough to be left to their own devices - have you got a link by any chance?
