“Jeremy Corbyn has defiantly restated Labour’s policy of leading Britain out of the European Union…” Where’s the headline then? Mr Corbyn’s Party supported the granting of a referendum, most of his MP’s voted to trigger A50 and his party secured their seats at the last General Election on a manifesto that committed the Party to take the UK...
On 27 June 2014, the European Council officially nominated Juncker for the position, and on 15 July 2014, the European Parliament elected him with a majority of 422 votes from a total of 729 cast. He succeeded José Manuel Barroso as President on 1 November 2014.
//The people who make the EU's laws in Brussels are not unelected bureaucrats; they are elected politicians, accountable to the people who elected them//
Inorrect: the body which decides EU policy and proposes all legislation (in secret conclave) is the unelected Commission whose members forswears national loyalty in favour of "commitment" to the EU . I doubt that anybody on this thread knows who the UK's last two commissioners were.
The parliament has power to reject legislation or suggest amendment.
“I believe the EU has become a huge, overly costly, bureaucratic organisation fundamentally lacking in both democracy and accountability to the many millions of people who pay for it through their taxes and who are bound to live by its rules”.
//there should’ve been a clause that we could only leave or stay when 60% of the country voted one way or another. //
the question on the referendum bill (and the bill itself) did not include such a clause, but was nevertheless passed by parliament with a majority of 6 to 1. further, the bill to enact A50 was passed with a parliamentary majority of 5 to 1. in terms of what would have been a good idea to include in the referendum, what does that say about the current crop of MPs. do you really believe they'd do any better if they were given a 2nd crack at it? really?
SP: "TTT I think -Talbot- was talking to me, not you." - if so apologies to Talbot. It just sounded like a typical riddle me type response that you get from the VB.
Talbot: Yeah Spanner Booby doesn't appear to have a scooby.
SP 13:29, 1) cancel the DD, 2) Leave the EU regardless of threats, project fear, whining anti British lefties, etc. The same thing I have been saying since June 25th 2016. Why is that so complex and difficult to comprehend?
The problem you have there is that your solution (forget about the Remainers) goes against what other leavers want. Not all of them, but a significant number.
