None of us know what questions the police asked for all at them to arrive at that description.
In the photograph (released several hours later), he looks like he (or his parents) hail from the Indian sub-continent.
However, I spent Christmas Day with someone who looks quite like him who is *not* a Muslim and comes from Sumatra....
What I think of the photo released is not relevant, what is relevant is what the person - be it victim or witness recalled at the time in the given lighting and situation.
My Mother would have told the Police he was 'Swarthy' a word she used for everyone who hadn't got the pasty look of someone stuck in the mill all day.
