As a rule of thumb I don't have a great deal of time for Nicholas Soames, but I love this quote from him:

"I think my grandfather's reputation can withstand a publicity-seeking assault from a third-rate, Poundland Lenin. I don't think it will shake the world."

Great quote.
I don't fancy that clown having any input into running this country at all. He, like Jeremy Corbyn, needs to grow up.
No historian, but Churchill was a Tory dealing with an internal (to the UK) matter of the miners in that circumstance. Very likely he was a villain then. They usually were.
From the description in the news article it seems all concerned were being villainous.
No more than you'd expecet from the Anti British pin up boy, IRA man through and through. He's no match for TGM's grandson, TGM himself would have ripped him up for Aris paper. What a plank!
What a pathetic and shameful embarrassment he is to this country and the Palace of Westminster.
He is an embarrassment - but his not alone in that in his party.
*he's*
"Hands-Up Anybody Who Fancies This Clown To Hold The Nation's Purse Strings?" - that's half the regulars on AB for a start!
Let's face it, imagine that you are a Labour Shadow Chancellor, on TV and was asked a question about arguably the greatest Tory ever known and you had to answer one word and the choice was hero or villain associated with Tonypandy.....you would say..."villain"...surely, well i would.
Although I have no truck with his beliefs you can be sure John McDonnell is no clown. He and Corbyn have set the wheels in motion that will deselect any M.P.'s who do not share their Leninist views. However they portray the "pleasant" face of these views whilst having others carry out their dirty work.
Let's hope he never gets to be the Shadow Transport Minister,
he would be thinking about giving out Contracts to Ferry Companies with no Ships.
How's the village gully?
Churchill was a ruthless, cold and uncaring politician. He would sacrifice his own people and be prepared to take lots of collateral damage to gain the victory. The people of this country rejected him directly after WW2 and his party opposed the introduction of the NHS in 1948. Proir to WW2, his political career was littered with failure as he drifted from party to party, because none of them wanted him. He brought this country together during wartime, but other than that, he was an abject failure.
I wondered how long the anti British would take to chime in. You need to make tough decisions in war time, or you lose then you'd be talking German me old china.
Read my last sentence. It says two things, in case you hadn't noticed.
-- answer removed --
A fairly damning but pretty accurate assessment of Churchill by 10 Clarion Street.Gallipoli, the sending of ships to the far east without air cover and allowing the bombing of Coventry to take place even though the enigma code had been broken because they didn't want the German's to find out we knew before we were ready to attack.
And less of the "China".
There isn`t much to add to the replies already in. I just wish the media would not give space to the views of nutters like Mcdonnell - it tends to spoil my breakfast.
