Most of this can be laid at the door of Anthony Blair and his Good Friday agreement. Soldiers treated like S??t whilst terrorists allowed to walk free.

what where the authorities cover up certain knowledge of their own wrong-doing ?
and then peddle stories that the victims threw themselves on red hot spikes or some such other tall story - shot themselves - blew themselves up - poisoned themselves or whatever - ( incredible stories swallowed whole by juries made up of Abers on an off-day )
like you AOG - I certainly hope not !

// McGuinness fired, the soldiers fired back, end of. //
I suspect there's a bit more to it than that. Being a soldier, even in a combat situation, doesn't absolve you of any and all responsibilities. If for example you shoot an unarmed civilian in the back as he's running away from you, and then wander up to finish them off with a shot to the head, that's not acceptable.
That's nothing to do with this case of course, just an example. As I said, let's hear the evidence.

We’ve got Ballymurphy to come too don’t we... ?
As Ludwig says, surely we should wait for the evidence before shooting our mouths off.
I remember this at the time, listening to Fr Daly on BBC NI news, and my dad, who was an Orangeman and a Black man (no not that sort) being pretty appalled.
There maybe is an argument that after 47 years it’s time to draw a line, but then there’s the relatives to consider. And that applies to relatives of terrorists too.
It just emphasises how daft were the comments of the NI Secretary the other week. Did she win a competition on the back of a crisp packet to get that job? You have to wonder.

Is nobody going to mention all the IRA bombers and murderers who were let out of prison as a result of the Good Friday Agreement - the doors were just about thrown open and they were waved out. And what about the 'letters of comfort' that were received by IRA men and others, promising that they would not be prosecuted?
