I have just heard on Global News there has been a large exchange of gunfire in the City of Utrecht ,Netherlands. Injuries have been reported. I have no customary link for a news item yet.

My niece went to university there, so I imagine there will be quite a large "immigrant population" who are also young foreign students.

Why are the Dutch authorities not divulging if this is a Far-Right Terrorist attack, an Islamic Terrorist attack or an attack by one more 'Nutter'?

in answer to PP's question, she did Sociology and Anthropology at Hull, the anthropology part of the degree was done at Utrecht. Apparently it is a centre of excellence for such things. She did not need to speak dutch : -)

The BBC are reporting the arrest and the authorities say it appears to have been a terrorist attack.

The BBC may be overstating that - the only person they actually quote just says they haven’t ruled it out. No doubt we’ll hear more. I can’t do links here but you might find the claim I quoted in the Guardian website.

The BBC have backtracked a bit, with the authorities in its latest report now saying the motive is unclear and citing the possi bility it was a domestic dispute. I dare say they’ll find out soon enough.
