I'd have thought they all got into politics to change things, to at least have a chance of implementing their ideas. So why are they so willing to be subservient to a corrupt unelected foreign entity?

voters can remove him by not voting for him gromit, if they choose to vote for him then they clearly do not want to remove him. It's what we call democracy, look it up it's a remarkable concept from ancient Greece.
Not working tho, is it!
Gromit, we can't counter the Muslim block vote or thick Labour voters overnight.
No-one is claiming we'll create Utopia overnight.
Gromit at 10:12 Tue, if the electorate votes for him, then he is their choice. If they don't - he isn't. Not difficult is it.

what's not working ZM? the candidate with the most votes wins the seat. I know you remainer types struggle with that concept but that's how it works, if they did not want him in that seat they would not vote for him. If there is a desire to get rid of somebody but that somebody in the end remains it is because the desire to keep them outweighed the desire to remove. Geddit? or shall I get the nails?
So you're perfectly happy with how democracy is panning out at the moment are you? Your multifarious posts criticising MPs, The Government and Parliament would seem to suggest otherwise.

I have no complaints about our system of electing MPs as it currently stands ZM. Does that clear it up for you?
If the public in Stephen Timms' constituency re-elect him then clearly they don't wish to replace him. If they wish to replace him it's as easy as using a pencil to mark a different candidate on the voting form. But everyone knows this, don't they ?
Naomi,
The people voted for Brexit, but parliament is 75% full of Remainers.
Perhaps the problem is the Government rule when two thirds of the electorate didn’t vote for them.
It is obvious that this Parliament is broken. It is not fit for purpose. It is not representative of the people.
No wonder TTT and Naomi are frustrated and frothing at the mouth.
Ah, I see T³ has already explained.
No system is perfect but trying to find a trustworthy person to represent the prevailing views of the community is the best anyone's suggested so far. Come secure technology maybe in the future we can vote on issues directly.
'Does that clear it up for you?' No, I'm afraid not. It's the end result I'm talking about, not the system (but you knew that).
TTT,
The most votes wins the seats. So 75% of seats returned a Remainer MP. So we should Remain in the EU. Yes?
No. Because an MP who doesn't represent their constituents are failing in their job and there should be a replacement system than can be triggered: and in any case, nationwide votes on a subject ought not be ignored due to local constituency views. They are nationally decided decisions.
'a replacement system than can be triggered' That would be a By-Election then?
Spicerack
// we can't counter the Muslim block vote //

There are 3 million muslims in the UK half of whom are below voting age anyway. The electorate stands at 46 million. Not much of a block vote. But apparently you think it influenced the General Election significantly.
There must be a lot of Muslims in Oliver Letwin’s West Doreset Constituency.
Question Author
ZM I am happy with the system, I don't expect to like all the occupants of all the seats. I can't stand most of Labour but I accept their validity. Must be a struggle for you to comprehend.
Gromit: "So 75% of seats returned a Remainer MP. So we should Remain in the EU. Yes? " - oh dear! you and ZM should have a little love in! I do not agree with parliament on this issue that does not mean I do not accept they were elected properly. I know it may not seem like it of late but there are issues beyond brexit but even if I disagree with everything they do I still accept they are elected under our system. I don't agree/disagree with some arbitrary proportion on any given subject.
Being in the EU is not vassalage, nor even remotely close to it.
Question Author
well I'd like to know what you call it jim!
Which MPs do you admire, Tora?
I guess I call it "Membership of the European Union".
