Leaving aside the rarer medical reasons for non vaccination for a moment - the anti-vaxxers are doing a ot of damage with their dcare mongering an of course with the internet it has spread far beyond the USA. Tony Blair declined to state whether or not his own children had received the vaccine which was both stupid and unhelpful
Jno "I don't know, I remember Gummer showing off his daughter eating a burger to prove that BSE wasn't a problem, and wishing he wasn't politicising his kids, however good the cause (eat the burger yourself, idiot). So I think Blair (who had particular reasons for keeping his kids out of the limelight) did the right thing, even though it wasn't helppful."
I kind of agree but think that if he wasn't prepared to conform that his own children had had it when asked.....not to have them filmed receiving it or anything like the Gummer fiasco.....then I think that he should have commented that as he felt it was a private matter for his children then it should be a matter for personal decision for other parents....at very least he should not have entered the discussion in support of the public health "we know best" line, which he did. My first great niece was at the vac age at the time and her two parents, who are not mud brained, gave the matter much thought and decided to go privately and have the injections given separately as was possible at the time.

actually spath, I don't think that is correct. If it is the same mechanism as antibiotic resistance, then when someone is unvaccinated, there is no pressure on the virus to mutate....the existing version will work just fine and its (largely) the existing version that will be shed. When someone who has been successfully vaccinated becomes infected then surely its a possibility that it will be because the virus has mutated and the existing antibodies don't work?....so its vacced people who will force the virus to mutate?
These are the routine ones, ummm... As you know, they change fairly regularly though...
