Oh, does he? I don't listen to that. Thanks Jim.
Breaking: election results prove that everybody was right all along and that they just need to deliver the exact same message but louder next time.
Alvaston (Derby) result:

UKIP: 56.4% (+27.6)
Lab: 26.5% (-14.3)
Con: 11.5% (-10.7)
LDem: 5.6% (-0.5)

UKIP GAIN from Lab.

Shame about the net loss of 54 so far for UKIP, though...
Lib Dems have been fine at local level, even if Clegg didn't handle power at national level as well as he might have.
I'm not surprised at all but think it needs to be taken in context. I didn't vote at all how I would in a general election because I was voting on local issues although that may be the minority reason - I can understand many just wanted to send a message but not sure that the swings would be reflected were it MPs we were voting for.

The Telegraph reports results, updated at 11:45;

Losses;

Ukip -5
Labour -58
Conservative -426
11:45 on which day was that, Khandro?
The Limp dums should be prosecuted under the trades description act!
I guess Khandro works on GMT+1 to be fair. Still, I can't see telegraph results but BBC reported -54 for UKIP rather than -5.
Although the Guardian has it as -8...

It does add "Note: change is calculated from the dissolution of the council, other providers compare results to the previous election." So perhaps that's the source of the discrepancy, ie perhaps various UKIP-elected councillors defected since the 2015 election?
Telegraph update at 12:27 CET

UKIP now -8
Others, no change
ah yes, I was forgetting Khandro lives in the Mitteleurop time warp!
Too true jno, they still burn witches in these parts. :0)
Not that anyone will be particularly interested but we had a by-election in Dundee yesterday (following the death of the standing councillor). The seat was taken by the SNPs which gives them an overall majority on the local Council.
Ye Gods!
Update 14:55 CET
Losses;
Ukip -8
Labour -6
Conservative -541
Labour -67
Though the Express claims Labour are now -85
the BBC latest (150 councils) has Ukip down 71, Labour 94, Tories 663; Greens up 114, Lib Dems 410, independents 308.
jno; I find the BBC's figures for UKIP losses hard to accept as they only had 102 seats to start with;

I think you will find the Telegraph's figure closer to the mark
