Early doors, but I am surprised that UKIP is losing Councillors and doing badly. Yesterday, I assumed UKIP would do well.
LibDems bouncing back too, how quickly people forget.
Question Author
I think the LibDem comeback will be short lived. This is a protest vote. UKIP I imagine has been over-shadowed by Nigel Farage's new party.
^^ which contested no seats.
Not surprised. I didn’t think the LDs still existed. It’s like the expenses scandal of a few years ago. Even my Conservative area got a LD MP.
I wish Labour could take advantage of the chaos the Tories are in.
"The results of the local elections are still rolling in this morning with many of the Tory shires opting not to count votes last night. The results so far see Labour taking a hammering in the leave voting North, and the Tories faring worse in the South, with smaller parties mopping up the pieces. For a party nine years into opposition this is really not a good result for Labour, and so far the Tories are managing to do as badly as expected… "

I'm informed that Ukip contested fewer seats and they are up in the seats they did contest. (hope it's true)
I think the Libdums did well because they traditionally contest every seat so they're the beneficiary of the protest against Cons/Labour.
Question Author
Khandro, //which contested no seats//

No, they didn't, but Nigel Farage was UKIP. Since his departure they haven't stood a hope and now he's re-emerged with a new party they're regarded as even more hopeless.
//they're regarded as even more hopeless.//
It's a great pity and I feel sorry for the good people still among them Gerrard Batten and Jeff Taylor and many others have worked tirelessly fo years for the UKIP cause, and it was a political blunder (but not a moral one) to recruit T.R.

There is a lot of personal animosity between N.F. and them. Still, I'd vote for Nigel if I could, but I only have one EU vote and it will be going to the AfD here.
UKIP have lost 54 Councillors. So presumably they contested those seats. So the theory that they are down because they fielded less candidates doesn’t really stand up.

Labour have been terrible in Opposition, and this is the result they deserve. They crave a General Election for some reason, but they would probably lose it if one was called.
Naomi, I read a comment of yours, from a couple of years ago, yesterday. (if you see what i mean) 'I wouldn't vote for UKIP but I'd vote for Nigel Farage'.
Why would that be, if you don't mind me asking.
Given thatFarage is panning Ukip for their stance against Islamisation. Accusing them of racism, lol.
Your views puzzle me.
//UKIP have lost 54 Councillors. So presumably they contested those seats.//

Presumably they didn't.
Question Author
Spicerack, //Given thatFarage is panning Ukip for their stance against Islamisation.//

What has he said?

I would vote for Nigel because I think he tells it like it is and he has a lot of support. I wouldn’t vote for UKIP because I don’t think they have a hope in hell.
He says, like many others, 'Islam is a religion of peace' and won't hear a word against them.
Ukip won't have a hope in hell if people get their views from the MSM instead of listening to them.

Have you got a link?
Didn't you bother listening to his radio show?
Question Author
What radio show?
I think you must be having a larf with me now.
Question Author
No. What radio show?
Farage has a slot on LBC, I think -- so presumably spicey is talking about that.
LBC. Weekday evenings. Sunday morning.
Suspended in the run-up to the EU-elections.
You've missed him for 2 years, Naomi.
