I can't agree.

The notion of Ms Brand's observation as comedic is a matter of interpretation, but I don't believe there is any way in which it could be considered as incitement.
A-H...On reflection and giving Miss Brand, the benefit of the doubt, you may well be right.
Not even remotely funny but I don't think she was inciting anyone to do it.Now had she said--''Instead of milkshakes let's all go out and throw battery acid over someone we don't like''.That would have been an entirely different matter.
However in light of all the acid attacks a year or so ago there could be a lot of disfigured people who would be upset by this insensitive 'joke'. The BBC should have edited it out . Shame on the audience for laughing at such a desperate attempt at humour.
When the members of a political party had their names and addresses leaked to the press, Brand urged her admirers to post dog-*** through their letter boxes.
Incitement or more hilarity?

Neither I would suggest.

I don't think Ms. Brand is in the business of 'urging' anyone, much less her 'followers' - she's a comedian, not Richard The Lionheart!
Remember when she got Carol Thatcher sacked for making 'a joke' in the green-room.
She's a big,fat,ugly hypocrite.
No wonder she's so popular with some of the posters on here.
LOL spicerack.

I just think, worse things could be said or done. It's a non story IMO. Mountain our of mole hill.

I am sure Ms. Brand would be delighted to think she wields such power in the BBC as to get anyone sacked, but of course, the story is not as simple as you are making it out to be Spicerack -

I am unsure why you feel the need to insult Ms Brand so graphically, or why you see your perception of her as being a reason why she may or may not appeal to any AB'ers.
Sqad - // Comedy or Incitement ?....Both. //

Actually, neither.

Just a nasty remark. Comedians can say any kind of horrible s*it they like and then play the 'I'm a comedian - I'm being ironic' card. See Frankie Boyle for more examples.

/// Hand up anyone else who hears a joke/comment on TV etc and says out loud - 'That will start a thread on AB tomorrow'.

Don't you agree that such a joke/comment such as this deserves a thread, since it is almost headline news, after all this is the news thread?

But then there are some on here who don't care to see such items aired for all to see, especially when it highlights what the nasty left are really like.
Well highlighted andy.

The situation we're discussing can NOT be compared to racism, as that is discrimination against a large % of audience.
Any company is barmy to keep someone on who has just racially offended a massive % of it's audience.
And btw, a lot of people (not i, but oh well) would be highly offended at the golliwog expression.

Personally, I am happy to see the issue on here, and debate it, but I cannot agree that there are any people on here who don't care to see this, or any other item aired - anyone has the option of simply ignoring the OP and not posting.

As for it highlighting ' what the nasty Left are like ...' - I am sure another debate will be along shortly pointing out 'what the nasty Right are like' - that's the beauty of free speech, and its practice on here on a daily basis.
This topic is no doubt as worthy as any other in having a thread to itself - keeps the site live and ticking over.

My reference was to a little wager I have with myself sometimes.
Indeed, Andy the cowardly phrase 'some on here' written by the usual suspect. He won't name names and he wont be able to find any examples.

/// if she'd named a potential target (Farage, Corbyn, whoever) it would have been a different matter. ///

Most of us know who she was targeting, how many have had milkshakes thrown over them recently, but Nigel Farage, Tommy Robinson, or that poor OAP?

Take your pick, suggesting throwing acid over them in preference to milkshakes is not only unfunny, but also criminal.
Its not criminal in the slightest
//society has moved on, and their [Davidson and Manning] brand of humour is largely seen as unacceptable to today's values in society.//

Joking about throwing acid in people’s faces is the new acceptable value? There’s progress for you!

As a fully paid up member of the Labour party Jo Brand is actually rather seriously political.
And she's not funny in the slightest.
