I certainly recognise that speech. It sounds very similar to a highly praised speech attributed to Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard. This speech was denied and snopes said it was a HOAX. It went viral. It is strange no one turned a hair when it was circulated but then it wasn't attributed to POTUS was it? //: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT....

Naomi - // But he didn't 'tell' them to go back where they came from. //

Your willingness to continue to try and defend the indefensible, is admirable, in a strange way - even if you are reduced to the verbal equivalent of re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

// He asked why they don't. If only our politicians had his backbone! //

Is that what you think he has? Backbone? Really???
//They come from the USA. Which the exception of the lady from Somalia who was brought up in the US.//
I bet a penny to a bent halfpenny that if you asked a black American how they came to the United States they will tell you their forebears were bought there as slaves.
Ask them where the forebears lived prior to succumbing to slave Traders and they will,no doubt say, we originally came from Sierra Leone, Gold Coast, Ghana or wherever.
Possibly Trump was saying ,"Go back to the country your family originated from and fix it".
AH, // But he didn't 'tell' them to go back where they came from. //

No rearranging chairs here - or anywhere else. He didn't say it.
AH, and yes, I do think he has backbone.
Just a bunch of whingeing women who don't like the President. Why the hell shouldn't he stand up to them in the way that he did? He did so because as naomi says, he has a backbone ..
Looks like that is what he did say if the tweet is a true extract.

//So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly.....
....and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run.

//originally came from countries// i.e. their country of origin.
retrocop - // Possibly Trump was saying ,"Go back to the country your family originated from and fix it". //

And possible Trump was saying "I'm a little teapot …"

At what stage are defenders of Trump such as yourself going to stop sliding round what was said, the way in which it was said, and the meaning behind what was said - and simply own the fact that your boy is a nasty ignorant misogynistic racist.

Heaven knows, he's not trying to find ways to dilute the poison in his message, and his fundamental attitudes that created it - he is unashamedly proud to be a 'straight talker' as I am sure he likes to see himself.

Of course, people who 'believe in plain speaking' simply like to be rude to and about other people, so they qualify it first - but as I have said earlier, The President is pleased as punch with what he said, and has made no move to quality of retract it - so why are you trying to do it for him?
It’s pointless trying to argue
hereIam - // Just a bunch of whingeing women who don't like the President. … //

Er, actually they are salaried and elected government officials.

// Why the hell shouldn't he stand up to them in the way that he did? //

Because it is rude, offensive inaccurate and racist.

// He did so because as naomi says, he has a backbone .. //

No, he did it because he is a rude offensive inaccurate racist.
AH to Retrocop, //At what stage are defenders of Trump such as yourself going to stop sliding round what was said//

The only people sliding around what was said are those, like yourself, who are determined to misrepresent what he said.
//and simply own the fact that your boy is a nasty ignorant misogynistic racist. //

My boy he is not

You have told people ad nauseum that if ABers do not like a certain thread or it's contents they are free to leave it.
Only what POTUS is saying.

Stand by what I said AH, just a bunch of whingeing women as far as I'm concerned and I'm not in the least bit interested in your dissecting my comment as you do with everybody's, so please stop wasting your time.
// The only people sliding around what was said are those, like yourself, who are determined to misrepresent what he said. //

You haven't read retocop's post on the subject then?

May I quote him - // Possibly Trump was saying ,"Go back to the country your family originated from and fix it". //

Posted at 14:20 - do pop back and have a look, in the interest of balanced criticism.
hereIam - // Stand by what I said AH, just a bunch of whingeing women as far as I'm concerned and I'm not in the least bit interested in your dissecting my comment as you do with everybody's, so please stop wasting your time. //

You are entitled to stand by your opinion, and I am entitled to dissect it - I don't regard it as a waste of my time - but if I did, it's mine to waste.
AH, I have read Retrocop's post. Unlike you and others here he isn't deliberately misrepresenting Mr Trump's deliberations. I suggest you take your own advice and read his post. He said 'possibly'.
Naomi - // AH, I have read Retrocop's post. Unlike you and others here he isn't deliberately misrepresenting Mr Trump's deliberations. I suggest you take your own advice and read his post. He said 'possibly'. //

And as I said, possibly President Trump was talking about teapots - short and stout.

We can waste time with what the President was 'possibly saying' from now until the earth spins into the sun - but it's merely distancing us from what we are talking about, which is what he did say, and how and why he said it.

I repeat, why is anyone trying to take the vitriol out of the President's message when he very clearly and deliberately put it there in the first place?
'Trump shouldn't say rude or offensive things' is the mantra of people who can't open their fat gobs without spewing out the most vile, rude, offensive, not to mention banal, insults at Donald.
repeat, why is anyone trying to take the vitriol out of the President's message when he very clearly and deliberately put it there in the first place?//

Because there was no vitriol or racism in it in the first place.
It wasn't a Trump decree or Presidential Order. It was a suggestion.
If you don't like the USA go elsewhere and put your world to rights.
