Is Austerity Something We Will Have To Live With Always?
The term AUSTERITY was brought in and used by David Cameron telling everyone that "we're in it together"
I wonder when we're going to break free of that mantra? If ever

Austerity is something that hits the poor and/or unemployed and or sick etc.. If you are in a fortunate position you may well not notice. When the Chancellor loosens the purse strings and starts investing in the nation again, that's when we're free of austerity.

Anyone can be naive. It just makes no sense to me, to label single parents (of either sex) as "scroungers", when they are the ones actually taking responsibility for their actions. It would be more accurate to call absent parents "scroungers" if they are leaving their responsibilities to everyone else to work out.
Single mothers (or fathers) are the ones who ARE taking responsibility though. Both in looking after and paying for their own children. Why is there no blame for absent parents? Surely if one person isn't able to do everything on their own, the other parent should be helping? While I agree with the idea... the blame does seem to be put on the wrong person.
Personal responsibility doesn’t mean paying to keep your children fed and housed etc with other peoples money. Personal responsibility means actually providing for them. Taking the *** jobs that our oh so privileged society doesn’t want to sully their hands with. Maybe work a bit harder and get a less *** job and progress that way.
Personal responsibility means taking advantage of the education system to attain the best start you can.
Personal responsibility means not expecting other peoples money will be flowing your way indefinitely and acting accordingly.
If you make people dependent on the state you will have a section of society that will always be one or even two steps behind everyone else. Eventually those with the wherewithal that have to pay out will get fed up and the backlash will be a earthquake upheaval.
Dependence breads dependence.
There is no doubt that as a society we should look after out most vulnerable people. But people don’t become vulnerable simply by virtue of needing money.

In what form, oh wise one, will this earthquake upheaval manifest itself? Shall there be darkness across the land. Shall there be the renting of the societal fabric so loud that our ears bleed? Or will we all go home and make a spag bol for tea and watch the soaps instead?

Spice //sell your big tv,Alexa and stop having holidays//
You just don't get it do you? I used that as an example if me not having the I'm Alright Jack attitude shown by so many , selling them and not going on holiday wouldn't make me virtuous at all, I'd feel the same then as I do now, very sorry for those who find themselves struggling from week to week!!!
Pixie ,well done your girl , I hope bigger and better things come her way
