The term AUSTERITY was brought in and used by David Cameron telling everyone that "we're in it together"
I wonder when we're going to break free of that mantra? If ever

Austerity is something that hits the poor and/or unemployed and or sick etc.. If you are in a fortunate position you may well not notice. When the Chancellor loosens the purse strings and starts investing in the nation again, that's when we're free of austerity.

Retro I don't think RR was suggesting she was on the breadline, more her salary has gone backwards instead of forwards
I'm alright Jack is natural though isn't it?

I schlep my backside up to London Bridge everyday to do the best I can for my wife and kids - all I'm interested in is doing the best I can so I can give them the best life it's possible for me to give them.

Am I meant to feel some sort of middle class guilt for those less fortunate? Because if I am, I most certainly don't. The (in my opinion) too much tax I pay provides those who can't work (which I am more than happy to help) with an income, and those who choose not to work (which I resent) with free money, so I do my bit.

Austerity? Nah, it never happened.

Most peoples have out there in the real world, Bobbisox ( glad to see you have your old name back by the way ).
"Get knotted retroclod"

Nice.
Deskdiary, I don’t expect you to do anything but a bit of empathy doesn’t cost anyone anything.
Yeah nice because he hunts me down and constantly belittle me!
Well so has police officers bobbi. London police officers have to live in London. They no longer receive rent allowance and married quarters are non existent now. No free prescriptions or dental fees. No boot allowance or stocking allowance. Many vocations and careers have stepped backwards in pay but you cut your suit according to your cloth.
Those who put aside for emergencies and save will survive on their own. Those who don't still seem to chug along with their comforts and indulgences.

Thanks Tony
// so has police officers// @retro
Brings me back to the point that wages are going backwards = Austerity ?
Callico: Same old leftist knee jerks. The average nursing salary is just over £40,000.
Not hunting anyone down.No use playing the victim and hard done by because you get treated like most others in employment and then tell us all about your expensive hobbies.
Retro: Why on earth should coppers get free prescriptions?
Let's see your link to that please Paigntonian.
How much do you think my hobby costs me?
I also never said I was broke but don’t let a few factors get in your way retroclod
Paingtonian - it’s nearer to £25k
Ignore the constant goading RR, it's going too far.
Thank you mamya glad someone else has recognised it
//Retro: Why on earth should coppers get free prescriptions?//

You tell me. I never worked that one out plus free dental treatment.
As I wrote earlier. That all stopped long before alleged austerity.

Crikey.

You do realise this is an anonymous internet forum right?

Why on earth would people get upset or take umbrage over what one anonymous user posts against another anonymous poster?

I find that utterly bizarre.

If somebody called me a complete penis on an anonymous internet forum, I literally couldn't care any less if I tried.

Calicogirl has been proven wrong on this thread, and that's fine...who cares?
