I did have: Crewe rly stn can you tell me what the announcer has just said?
are you deaf ?
yes ! how did you tell ?
rescued by a passer-by that time .....
Yes, mamya... a clear difference between something which is personal and intended to upset, offend, make you feel stupid or a general joke not aimed at you. It isn't even really about how funny it is... just that it is not meant and shouldn't be taken seriously. I think humour is important and the majority of people don't want to be pitied. Everyone has things about them that aren't "perfect".
Does anyone have any jokes that couldn't possibly offend anyone anywhere ever?
I think it is fair to say that some people with disabilities, conditions or illnesses may have been ridiculed, vilified or offended by someone at some time for that very reason so why would any one be surprised that they may have been offended by a joke?
If you think about it, most jokes are atsomeone's expense.
I have seen a few comedians, where there is the odd joke that personally I might find unfunny/ tasteless- and rarely, offensive. But clearly that is just me, and others don't. If there was someone I just never enjoyed, I just wouldn't watch them myself, but i wouldn't want them banned.
I’m surprised no one has complained about re-runs of the Morecambe & Wise show. What with Ernie’s inability to write like wot he ought to, and Eric’s incompetence in playing all the right piano notes but not necessarily in the right order, if those seeking offence try very hard doubtless they’ll find it’s something to do with learning difficulties.
