Ahh it all makes sense now! The sadism of the met. Vile. I can not believe the off duty cop isn't facing retribution. Reasonable force? Pffft. What kind of example does this set! Absolutely vile.

As has been said the guy was already restrained If this copper is willing to head butt the guy in full glare of the public ; when any threat was already neutralised ;i wonder what he is prepared to do to other people , when there is no one around in a non life threatening situation . Whatever you think of the guy is irrelevant in the circumstances I certainly wouldn't...

Spath - if the policeman had space he probably would have restrained him but a headbutt is less risky to the innocent people standing nearby.

Mental illness really can't be used in the heat of the moment. No one has time to assess a situation before reacting.

The man was restrained, he had both of his arms grabbed by another man and crossed. The reason he got headbutted was because he was shouting about his own inelegance

"I'm not clever I'm not clever"

Maybe he realised his stupidity? He didn't seem a threat in the video, and he was in that position for over 5 minutes according to sources.

The headbutt was not essential, or defence, or reasonable force. Therefore it is assault plain and simple.

One rule for us.. another for the biggest legal gang in the UK.

Just because someone is part of the police force does not mean they are morally correct.
I am a great believer in support for our police and other services but that head butted was beyond the pail.

It was totally unnecessary and absolutely on the face of the clip over the top.
I agree, Spath, there was no need.
Can't really believe the the Met took no action.

I wonder if the small chap who got brutally headbutted suffered a Subdural hematoma
I think we would have heard about it if he had.
Question Author
It's doubtful, as the papers don't even disclose the course of action to the trouble maker.

Don't get me wrong.. Short bearded man was certainly a problem. I just don't think big oafy should have headbutted him as a solution.
‘ he jumped up and our heads made contact Sir . ,,!!!!
Man threatening to knife people. I really don’t care how he’s restrained. No sympathy for him whatsoever.
No surprise there Naomi .
I agree with Naomi. The man was dangerous.
Question Author
"The man was dangerous."

Evidently he wasn't though.
Yes he was dangerous, but, not when being restrained by three people. He appears well and truly restrained, which he should be.
Question Author
Evidently not though.

If my TV suddenly starts broadcasting "Warning, i will self destruct" and then doesn't.. does not mean my TV was dangerous.

There was absolutely no danger to anyone.

There is absolutely no proof at all that the short bearded man who got headbutted was dangerous. He certainly wasn't when he got headbutted.

The daily mail reported that the reason the man got headbutted was "To shut him up" apparently that was necessary to keep people safe?? Pfft.
Next time someone threatens to stab people, best wait until they do - just to make sure they should have been stopped...
Question Author
Naomi i don't think you're grasping the situation correctly. The man was restrained by 2-3 men against the train carriage doors before he was brutally headbutted for shouting about his own intelligence.

He did not threaten to stab people and get instantly headbutted.
He’s not going to stab anyone in the restraining situation he is in .
Question Author
you'd hope not... you'd hope an off duty police officer holding the persons harms in a crossed position whilst two large men to either side are keeping him up against the wall.

However, the off duty cop clearly couldn't handle this situation and needed to deliver a potential fatal blow to the face with hit head. Such a man of many skills i'm sure.

I don't think he's fit to be a police officer. The kind to have probably shot a few black people in america and allowed the situation to be swept under the carpet. It's not OK it's not on. This would have not happened if the person was British i bet.
Don't care, spath. Had I been a passenger on that crowded train I'd have been terrified. Bet he won't do it again in a hurry.
