I hate to break it to you 'Mr' McConnell, but men cannot give birth. They just can't. And no amount of legislation or reassignment surgery will EVER change that basic fact. What has, in fact happened, is a woman masquerading as a man has given birth. Women give birth and men do not, because they cannot.

Am I alone in thinking this is nuts?

Monty Python were truly prophetic in their sketch!

The nonsense begins here: //He was able to get pregnant but was legally a man when the child was born.// It was perpetuated when “his” brief said she was disappointed with the original ruling (when Sir Andrew MacFarlane ruled that people who give birth are mothers, regardless of their gender). It was continued when a High Court judge ruled that he had an...

What does it matter to you or anyone else unconnected to the family. The child will know the parent as their father whatever they're registered as.

Leave them to live their lives as they please.
Couldn't care. I hope he's not getting legal aid though.
Poor child. 'He' will always be its mother whatever a piece of paper says.
yes DD I agree, all this TG cobras is getting silly and TROB let it. A woman had a baby, end of.
it's the baby I feel sorry for, poor little sod.
Yes - but my God-daughter (a lovely person who has been much troubled) has just changed her name to a male equivalent and that makes no odds. But there are no children or partners involved.

Men cannot give birth - fact. It does matter, very much, to the child. We need a new form of language, I think. The child could be very confused.

Because when I see an absurdity, I think its fair to call the absurdity out, otherwise the achingly right-on will try to browbeat people with a realistic grasp on normality into thinking it's normal. And it isn't.

Can someone remind me what TG Cobra means again?

Misuse of a pronoun.
I don't feel sorry for the child. It's not ideal but it could turn out perfect. I'd rather have a loving, caring, transgender or gay parent than some of the awful people I've seen or read about.
If I run around my neck of the woods shouting, "call me an ambulance," the locals will say, "OK you're an ambulance
ummm 21:33, it's obvious, you're doing your pretend not to understand and moan routine again.
In your opinion, DD, if he wants to be seen as a man, woman or a lizard, I don't care.

I find some fetishes more concerning tbh.
TTT...I'm not that petty!
ummmm cobras! you are a professional contrarian!

I sort of agree with ummm, he (let's indulge the absurdity and call her him for the purposes if this answer) may turn out to be a great 'father', and I hope 'he' is, but it doesn't avoid the undeniable fact that 'he' is in fact a woman because 'he' has given birth to a child. If 'he' was a man 'he' wouldn't have given birth. Not unless 'he' is the first 'man' in history to have been able defy biology.

Yes, deskdiary.
^^^ Sorry, realised reply was ambiguous. I agree with Deskdiary.
