Personally, I don't think politicians should have a lot of say in what history is taught. I'd rather leave that to professional educators and historians to decide.

No, no,no! On the whole we did more good than harm, I think - and just look at what has happened since countries were given independence. As far as I am aware, we are the only empire ever to give-up countries more-or-less voluntarily.
