Iam from Scotland and I would absolutely never ever vote SNP I think they are very divisive they have made a mess of devolved powers they have and want more powers and their entire focus is on independence at the cost of neglecting the day job

not universally liked - nevertheless I expect Scotland to be a one party state come the 13th.
Honestly, I think that Scotland may be "better together", but England aren't.
//Scotland voted to Remain//.

They actually didn't, og. They voted to stay with the rest of Britain... and Britain voted to leave.
As a sub area of the whole nation they had a local majority to remain.
That's irrelevant though. They deliberately chose to officially stay with us. And the UK, which they are part of, chose to leave. I'm sure Scotland are as democratic as everyone else.
Well said Pixie.
Thank you x no judgement, it is just the facts...

Pixie, on the EU the sentiment in Scotland was and remains counter to that of England (overall in both cases) and indications are that that is the light by which the question of independence is now seen.
I know, karl. Scotland was asked, and decided to stay with the UK. The UK, had voted to leave. That is as far as we have officially got- and while Scotland decide to remain with us... they can't claim that "they" want something different, as it is "we" and not "they".
If they become independent, then their own views are up to them- but they didn't want that, when asked.
Gordie, don't forget that in an independent Scotland there would/will be a collection of parties to vie for policy leadership, and your vote. Once independent, Scotland can actually diverge from the UK - the only way Scotland will become better than the sluggish UK (one way would be to simply copy what is successfully done in/by other similar sized well run countries) is to be seriously different. I have no doubt Scotland can be better apart but my concern is that Scottish leaders will not have the force/guts to quickly become "non-UK" or/and the Scottish public/electorate will not have the necessary willingness. An independent Scotland may continue to lag well behind its potential for a few generations yet but it need not stay in the UK to do so quite so much.
Pixie, that's just it isn't it: They will likely be asked to state their current desire (in the light of recent developments and the passage of time). Previously the "Yes" strength started out being seen as, optimistically by many (even among supporters of independence), maybe just past 20% and ended up past 45%. Now the indications are that around 50% is where the mood sits, one asks where would it go if/when put to the test ?
Who know, really? We obviously need to leave asap.
If the Scots are unhappy with that, they can hold their own referendums and decide for themselves. So far, they have decided they are part of the UK, so suggesting they are separate somehow, just isn't true- or what they want themselves.
I am sick to my back teeth of the Sturgeon talking for me.
She doesn't .
I've come across neighbours and friends who can no longer stand her and by extension the snp anymore, they feel let down
Well said QWERTY I totally agree with you. I hope the SNP get a wake up call on 13th December but I fear not

well I think this thread demonstrates a noticeable split in our Scottish contributors. It seems many(in Scotland as a whole) are not in enamoured with the SNP currently.
The latest poll suggests the SNP will gain eight more seats at the election so it would appear more folk ARE supporting them.

It should also be remembered that when the independence referendum was held, that was well before the EU referendum and things have changed.
TCL, until there is another official referendum, we can only go by how things are now. Anything else is just presumption.
//It should also be remembered that when the independence referendum was held, that was well before the EU referendum and things have changed. //

Alex Salmond can vouch for that.
I have belled my good friend D.I. Rebus to nose out the situation and give me a clue as to the situation:)
