Any person who becomes an MP is automatically elevated to the top 5% of earners in the UK. That's without any allowances or extra salary for specific jobs that they might receive. The only professions where the average salary is more than £80k are CEOs, senior directors and air traffic controllers. Remember that an MP needs no specific skills or qualifications, no experience. Yet they step into an £80k job, three times the national average pay and a salary which many of them could only imagine in their wildest dreams were they not an MP. So we mustn't be surprised if they accumulate wealth even if they only serve a relatively short term in office.

//TBF emmie, Noo Laybore were Tory lite really, that's the only way Labour can get elected.//
Indeed. Tony Blair was no more a genuine Labour supporter than I am. There has not been a "proper" Labour government in the UK for forty years. Looking at the result of the recent election there is unlikely to be one for another forty years, if ever. This country does not have the stomach for Socialism. It is to well off.
