When it’s laid out like this, it seems pretty shocking.

What do you think the reasons are?

"that is the not-to-be-missed opportunity to take offence by proxy." I'm not sure that noting a obvious bias in reporting is taking offence on someones behalf. Just because I notice the sky is blue doesn't mean that I'm suddenly taking offence. An observation is exactly that and only that, Naomi. I think you need a sit down, you can't understand the point...

Ellipsis, //According to your post of 16:19 there is no "they" //

No, that is not according to my post.
Spicerack; Just for the record - though i'm sure i've said it before on here - I denounce Trump because of his policies and the way he implements them by bullying smaller nations. And I dare say that the decisions POTUS makes could have much more of an impact on my life than any Harry and Meghan make. Their proposed move to Canada will not start a war which our soldiers will be drawn into. Whereas Trump's decisions...……………………….
//Saw a vid of her the other day. Harry was conversing with a group of dignitaries when she pushed in front of him shaking hands with them//

Ironically SR, that's a very Trumpy thing to do. I also seem to remember Donny having little time for Royal protocal when he was in the country last year.

So when the POTUS does something you'll defend him, but if MM does similar, she's a disgrace?
Perhaps ignorance of good manners and protocol is an American thing. Naivety is exhibited by spade loads for sure.
Perhaps RC. It may just be that MM and Donny are cut from the same privileged cloth. They are both sure of their own importance.
The Queen's should be allowed to focus on her sick 98yr old husband at this time, not be worrying about the damage these spoilt, self-centred, overgrown children might wreak on the monarchy.

//Naomi why would two people behave in the same way? //

yes ! no ! two reasons spring to mind
if two people never behaved in the same way then there would be no group think
but there is: there fore by observation, two people behave in the same way and the next relecant question is - under what conditions
(a)

and secondly C G Jungs second big idea was "group consciousness" - ( kollektives Unbewusstes) under which etc etc

(a) first observed in the bay of pigs disaster - no one said this was a bad idea ( and possibly Suez, where the arabist said this was a bad idea and was chucked out of the cabinet and ruined)
You need one dissentient opinion which may not even be relevant ( as in this coffee tastes like crap)
// I also seem to remember Donny having little time for Royal protocol//
you mean like the queens bottom is a verboten area ? I saw that video as well

and she addressed him as Mr eostein ?
// retrocop

Perhaps ignorance of good manners and protocol is an American thing. //

Oh good grief
I can't tell you how shocked I was by British rudeness when I first arrived here. I'd always heard that politeness ruled here...

It does, Pasta, to those well bred anyway.

Welcome by the way. :-)

I think it makes sense to discuss the story rather than making this thread about contributors.

There are some comparisons in the link that I didn’t know.

The hands in pocket story is odd.
Not really, sp. One is a posed picture, the other a matter of protocol on an official visit.

I’m sure that many would agree with you. I suppose it’s just one of those things where different people interpret the same story different ways.

I think we can agree to disagree on this.
sp, Unless you're seeking offence on Meghan's behalf I can't see why you disagree with logical/accurate explanations - but okay.
Naomi, comment on the Lilly of the valley flowers

Why is kate following royal code whilst "meghan's flowers" is putting Charlottes life at risk?

Really - it’s not seeking offence. It’s asking a question. The stories about the candles. The way they wear their hair. The flowers they use. The report on them not seeing the Queen at Christmas.

One or two stories are understandable, but when you stack them up...

But anyway, like I say - these stories can be interpreted different ways. Someone at the bottom of the link I posted has said that other royal wives have also been treated badly by the British press.

Perhaps this is one of those situations where there is a point to be made on either side of the argument.

Yeah - that one is a real head-scratcher.
SP, Lets put it this way. The impression I get from the media is that Kate is a perfect English rose for the media to report on where as Meghan is an intruder from America who has forced herself on Harry.

This is not what I think, this is what I think the media thinks.
