A right lot of clap right enough.
Bonking Bonging Boris, should shake his Magic Money tree if he wants to go Bonging .
damn someone has got there before me..... hmm

Boris the bonger, with his magic money tree, wishes to change his old image from Boris the Bonker with his magic er wand
Surely J Arthur Rank can bong in the liberation for a few bob.
An emphatic no!!! Don't forget that 47.4% voted to stay, politicians seemed to forget this, ringing Big Ben only rubs it in, and for the PM to suggest crowdfunding, shows that he is as big an idiot as we thought.
Naomi; "Has it gone away?" Unfortunately, Naomi, in some areas it hasn't. No matter how one voted, we are leaving on Jan 31 but to ring the bell to celebrate would just antagonize those who voted remain and give the Brexiteers another occasion for bragging rights. We are leaving, but to ask the whole country to rejoice in this (as AOG suggests) is nonsense. There are just as many rabid Remainers as there are Bolshy Brexiteers. Those who wish to mark the occasion should organise street parties or booze-ups. The rest should just get on with their lives.
By the way, BA ought to go to TTT @ 0946.
// Can they not just get a bloke with ear defenders to wack it with a sledge hammer? //

I'd do it for couple of hundred quid.
Cost you more than that for the scaffolding, Ludwig. 'Specially in London!!
I'm going to be really boring, if we can't find better things to do with half a million. :0(
Despite being an ardent leaver (in case anyone on here was of any doubt) I dont see the need to ring Big Ben. The Tower is being renovated at great cost, no need to delay or increase said cost.
Let's have a referendum on whether or not it should be rung.
Putting my coat on now:-))
It is obviously a cause for celebration that we are leaving. But it's a bit more than that. For the last three and a half years the liberal elite in this country has castigated those who voted to leave, calling them everything from pig ignorant to racists. They were determined from day one to thwart the result of the referendum by any means possible, disguising it as concern for the manner of leaving when in fact it was nothing of the sort. Those wishing to leave have thus had to fight two battles - one to secure the referendum result and another to see it implemented. But still it goes on. Yesterday, during the debate on the Withdrawal Bill in the House of Lords, "Liberal Democrat" peer Lord Greaves said this:

"People [Remainers] are moaning, people are crying at night when they go to sleep, they are crying in the morning when they wake up,"

But even more disgracefully:

"I am fearful on the 31st January that some things may happen in some places which could be reminiscent of things happening in Germany in the early 1930s."

His ludicrous melodrama relating tales of people crying themselves to sleep can be dismissed as just that – fanciful nonsense worthy only of a pantomime. But his comparison of the UK in 2020 to Nazi Germany in the 1930s goes beyond the pale. The man is a disgrace and he embodies everything about the party that has probably done more than any other to maintain a schism in the nation.

The time for the country to come together was on 24th June 2016. That was the time they should have been told that the decision was made and that we would be leaving the EU forthwith. Instead there followed more than three years of the most disgraceful political shenanigans I have witnessed, brought about by a Parliament which asked the electorate a question and didn’t like the answer it received.

That is the greater reason why the Leave side has cause to celebrate. It finally defeated a liberal and Metropolitan elite. An elite that not only thought it knew best but was determined to overturn the largest single issue mandate provided to a Parliament this country has ever seen, insulting 17m people into the bargain.
Loop gongs

Question Author
as i said earlier i couldn't care less if it strikes or not, as long as we come out of the EU on the 31st January 2020
then that's it.
It is exceedingly short-sighted to think of 31 Jan as "we leave and that's it". The negatives of leaving will fester on and on until we get a government which sees sense and begs to rejoin the EU.
diddly // and begs to rejoin the EU//
Dream on, it will never happen.
// I don't care if Big Ben bongs for Brexit or not. The taxpayer pays anyway. //

so true so true, NIgh - the taxpayer pays for Brexit and pays and pays and pays, well spotted if a little late

oh pays for the Brexit bong you mean, erm not sure
// For the last three and a half years the liberal elite in this country has castigated those who voted to leave, calling them everything from pig ignorant to racists.//
yup guilty as charged
stupid, liars, ( remember the bus NJ?) inco, petents and not able to poss into a pit

is there any evidence we are wrong?
judge 13:17, bang on.
2Pee: "stupid, liars, ( remember the bus NJ?)" - must we keep education the hard of thinking? the bus had no lies on it.
