Apparently they're going to be put in quarantine for 14 days possibly at Military bases, but....
a) what about the other people on the flight (aircraft are notorious for spreading germs / diseases etc)?
b) what about the crew?

They are not really breathing the same air per se. 50% is recycled and 50% is fresh (of sorts) and the flow rate can be altered.

Indeed. Not an easy choice.
It is infectious before the symptoms show. But so are many viruses, including common flu.
No one knows how harmful it may turn out to be, tho as a rule a virus doesn’t want to kill a healthy host, as that is also a death sentence for the virus. Viruses are essentially out to survive. It’s our own bodies reacting to them they make us ill.

oh get behind me anthropomorph ! - we Darwinists would say: (there isnt that awful anti vaxxer around is there?) there is no evolutionary advantage to killing the host - but all that is saying is that it would be better off as a parasite or symbiont.

But in THAT case why does an infection become MORE virulent and not less late in an epidemic? plague becomes pneumonic ( rat not reqd ) and measles worse ? - or indeed why does ebola kill at all ?
