Jim360 - “The defeat, such as it was, owes more to the leaders of the Remain campaign than it does to the rank-and-file, anyway.” I vehemently disagree. While the leaders of the Remain campaign were, for the most part, doom-mongering, lying catastrophists, it was the rank-and-file 'C' and 'D' list remoaners in the main-stream media that really put the...

Jim, //Now all I need is Naomi to admit that I've been a gentleman//

Gentlemanly behaviour is synonymous with honesty and integrity. Respect is earned. I trust you’re good at whistling.
I'm not bad at it. But it's OK. I'm fine without your respect. Luckily I have the respect of other people who matter somewhat more to me.
If you’re sure…
Well, maybe I'm not so sure I'm good at whistling!
You'll improve with practice.
Old_Geezer - “... Not all left wingers are anti sovereignty [and] gammon is soooo tasty.”

First, I agree that not all left wingers are anti-sovereignty nor are they all anti-democratic. I didn't actually say that but I can understand that my words, viewed in a particularly unfavourable light, could be construed as such. I have many Labour voting friends and acquaintances who are level headed, democracy loving individuals who would be appalled at the accusation. But I would suggest that all anti-democratic, anti-sovereignty types are left wingers. The upper echelons of the Russian communist party used to call such people, “useful idiots”. Even the anti-democratic, fascistic, Ruskies knew that a turkey voting for Christmas was a fool.

And second, gammon is lovely. Particularly with a fried egg on top.
Jim - “... [birdie is] mischaracterising my position.”

I don't think I am. I was responding to your assertion that you believe that the reason the 'remain' camp lost the vote was because of a failure of the leaders who wanted to remain in the EU. I don't think it was. I believe that it was the vitriolic bile, hatred and insults targetted at the people who voted for Brexit that held sway. I'm not accusing you in any way of being so small minded as think that people like myself are idiots, but what I am saying is that many people on your side of the isle do think exactly that.

My mind is boggled by your defence of the EU though. Why do you think it's a good idea to have our (and I am assuming you're a UK resident here – forgive me if that is not the case) laws be subservient to EU law? EU law takes primacy over UK law. The EU can, and have, overridden UK law. The EU Parliament is a Parliament in name only. It cannot amend, repeal or make laws. That is done by the EU Commission. Not the Parliament. If you don't like a particular member of the EU Commission, can you remove them from office in a vote? No you cannot. And that, in a nutshell, demonstrates the anti-democratic nature of the EU.

To paraphrase a quote, “Legislation without representation is a tyranny”.
When any union fails to defend individual sovereignty it becomes the handmaiden of tyranny.
That is certainly a lesson well learned from recent history.

Birdie to Jim, //I'm not accusing you in any way of being so small minded as think that people like myself are idiots//

Anyone who tells others that democracy doesn’t mean what they think it means, or requests that the Science category here be confined only to that which is supported by science, certainly doesn’t regard his audience as intelligent.
11.43 , think idiot M is grinding his gears again. Haha.
Strange how you thought it was you Mozz was having a go at, guilty conscience was it gulliver. Mozz is a fellow remainer but is another one who is fed up with all the rubbish you and your mate spout. You didn't help your cause at all. Have either of you ever put something on here that was cheerful or uplifting as I do not recall seeing anything. You both act as if you could make milk turn sour just by looking at it. Try cheering up and don't forget there are other things in life apart from Brexit and the Tories.
Mozz is to be commended on his honesty - a rare quality in Remainers here.
The shedman, I asked Gulliver to give a reason why he hates BJ so much whilst residing in another country and reaping the benefits there, I’m still waiting an answer but won’t hold my breath ,curios just how and why coming out of Europe will effect someone ensconced in another country although he’s careful to say where that is
*not to say *
Any particular reason why you felt a need to butt into what was manifestly a conversation between me and somebody else, Naomi?
He has been asked this and many other questions many times and never gives an answer just more bile comes from him and diddly. I can't understand why anyone who doesn't live here has so much animosity towards something that doesn't affect them and according to him never will. Needs to get a life and start enjoying it.
PMSL.
Theshedman, and there^^^ is our answer....because he can’t
