Tommy In Trouble Again...
Answers
I wouldn't depend on the tabloids to report the truth.... especially when they're on the warpath against someone.

There were eye-witnesses to SYL’s punch, and the center has CCTV. He was been charged with assault and bailed.
The CCTV might be useful in proving (or disproving) the sexual assault allegation.
No news of anyone being charged with that, but the police have been made aware of the allegation, and will be investigating in relation to the assault court case.
SYL’s lengthy criminal record for violent behaviour will not help him. For ABH, if the offender has previous convictions or if there are aggravating factors, a prison sentence is more likely.
Apparently a few weeks in chokey is a death sentence for our Hero Tommy :-(

// Spicerack - // Not sending a good message to TR's daughter (or other victims) Report a sexual assault and see your father arrested. //
erm sorry there is an existential assumption that a sexual assault occurred. it may not have done
this little circumstance completely changes the picture
but what if Tarmy our blessed hero ready to intervene whenever - thought there had been but there hadnt been ?
note importance of CCTV

Spicerack - // They originally arrested him for ABH, peter.
Probably realised that wouldn't stick so changed the charge.
(bit like when they prosecuted him for contempt of court) //
Suggesting that the charge 'wouldn't stick' rather adds to 'Tommy Robinson's perception of himself, that the world is out to get him.
The reality is more likely that the police make an initial arrest based on what they perceive the offence to be, and when it is analysed, a more appropriate charge is decided on, based more on the correct application of the law, rather than the desperate need to jail 'Tommy Robinson'.
He's only that important in his own mind, and the minds of people who think he is a 'hero'.

To be clear, SYL has been charged with Common Assault.
The maximum sentence allowed by law for common assault is six months imprisonment, and cases can only be heard in the magistrates' court. If the assault is racially or religiously aggravated, the maximum sentence is two years imprisonment and cases can be heard in the Crown Court as well.

// They charged him with Breach of the Peace, peter.//

who was it who said stick to the facts ?
you get arrested for breach but there is no charge
this came up a few weeks ago with NJ - who got it right because well you know he is a judge
[Breach of the Peace. Breach of the Peace is not a criminal offence: you can be arrested, but you cannot be charged. The police have the power to detain or arrest you if a “breach of the peace” has occurred, or to prevent it from occurring.]
