Coronavirus: Has Anyone Had A Bit Of A Cold In The Past Couple Of Months?
I have, so here’s hoping.
// The coronavirus could have infected as much as half of the the UK’s population, according to researchers at the University of Oxford. If accurate, the results would mean the country has already acquired substantial “herd immunity” through the unrecognised spread of the illness.
The shutdown across the UK could be removed much sooner expected if the findings are confirmed //

A light on the horizon perhaps?

I think there should be an anti body test
Yes I mentioned this in a thread earlier - probably should have started a new item.
I am not sure you'd even need to have a mild cold. It could well have been without symptoms - if true. Probably the vast majority.
On that cruise ship that was isolated, half of the positive tests had zero symptoms
I wondered if this might explain why China is now "in remission" because given the length of time it must have been in circulation there, one would expect a much greater number of cases, even given the measures they took to control it.
The best way this could be tested - the only way - is with antibody testing when available: far more useful than positive testing.

Unfortunate in retrospect. At the time it made sense, and maybe still does.
We have to find out which study was correct, only time and further actual research/testing etc will tell how many people have had Covid already. I'm kind of inclined to doubt this new study, because one can surely take as given that the same modelling would apply to France, Italy etc, where total deaths have been much higher so far, and I'm not sure that can solely be put down to demographics.

Son 2's girlfriend came back from a girls trip to Thailand, Laos and Vietnam just before Christmas with a 'cold' and all of us had a bad do. I was particularly bad with the worst cough I've ever had, hot sweats, dizziness, weakness, fatigue, breathlessness etc all through January and into February. I'm still coughing and breathless now and waiting for the results of a chest x-ray. NHS England weren't interested because I hadn't been to China or been in contact with a confirmed case. I didn't fit their algorithm.
It's possible we all had something else equally nasty but I believe that we had Covid19, the youngsters shrugging it off relatively easily but me being harder hit.

I cannot see how they can lift restrictions sooner as its known that there are different strains of Covid-19 unless contracting one version the virus would make you immune to all strains
"
There are thought to be two strains, I think very similar.
But yes no one knows how long any immunity would last.
The common cold is a coronavirus, and as we all know there's no cure, or immunity at all there ...

Best wishes, shoots xx there seem to be a lot of coughs and cold around at the moment, that people are claiming as "allergies", but as nobody is being tested, I don't know. That would be great if people are getting immune to it, without even realising they have had it.
But, does that work? I thought I had heard that some people have got it more than once?
