I have, so here’s hoping.

// The coronavirus could have infected as much as half of the the UK’s population, according to researchers at the University of Oxford. If accurate, the results would mean the country has already acquired substantial “herd immunity” through the unrecognised spread of the illness.

The shutdown across the UK could be removed much sooner expected if the findings are confirmed //

A light on the horizon perhaps?

Yes I have had some of the symptoms.
I usually get ill over Christmas, but nothing this time.
A week ago I got headache, dripping nose (not sneezing) and an irritating cough and very tired.

Where I work, we get thousands in-store everyday. I am a key worker.
I've been ill. Don't think it's the virus though but haven't left the house in almost 4 weeks 'just in case'

My kids won't come in the house :-( They are scared of infecting me.

I sat in my porch yesterday talking to my son while he stood in the road. So sad.
I've just had a cold, but am quite sure it was not Coronavirus, as I have a severe chronic lung condition and, apart from being a bit more chesty, I was OK.
We will know soon enough. If half the country has already had it then the NHS shouldn't be swamped as the rest get it.
// The expert said it was unlikely as there would have been a spike in the number of deaths at that time as a result of the virus.//

and also Nickorwans point is good
the walk ins stop walking in and
the dead and dying stop dying ( pick up their beds and waltz out of H as we have read before Jn 5 1-18)

and we will have the restrictions until they do

Retro should self isolate - if the shoota thinks he has had it, Retro was within 2 m and for longer than 15 mins and fulfils the criteria

Interestingly the equations and stats ( infective 5 d and two to three persons infected by each patient) predict that it dies out once 60% have had the disease ( Measles 95%)
and the Diamante Princess - a Beeb hack said off-hand 'somewhat strangely only two thirds ever tested positive"

Everones fave prez is doing his best to loosen the isolation criteria and regulations and I think everyone is looking on wondering what will happen
as Trump said - the churches will be full at easter and it will be a beautiful thing
or will it be - the mortuaries will be full at easter and it will be hell on earth- we are all gonna DIIIIIIEEE !
I had a strange illness in January, which my wife subsequently caught from me. I say strange because it wasn't like a normal seasonal cold. We had dry coughs and felt incredibly fatigued. It lasted about two weeks.

I don't remember having a fever or shortness of breath, but we are both wondering if we had this thing with mild symptoms.

We don't know how long China was covering this thing up, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's been around a lot longer than we're led to believe.
I spoke too soon. My nearest neighbour had just phoned. Her daughter who works at the local town vets has had to stay late for a meeting and test because one of her colleagues has been tested positive today. Its a huge practice and vet hospital with lots of staff. Her husband brougt us some milk round earlier today but fortunately only spoke from at least 2 metres and was wearing gloves when he handed the milk over and OH immediately washed his hands and the plastic milk container won't be touched for 72 hrs.
The day after boxing day I was ill and some weeks later went to the doctors for about the second time in 10 years. The illness went on for another few weeks. If I had the same illness now I would swear it was covid19.
I’d love to think this was true, but when I look at the death toll here in Spain, and the fact we are told we are not even close to the peak yet, I find it very hard to believe. If around half of Brits have already been infected that means many older people have already been infected without the devastating results we have seen elsewhere. I hope it is true, but I don’t believe it.
People may well have been dying with\of coronorvirus for a while Nickorwan, but because nobody was aware of its existence, the deaths would have been attributed to something else.
Not on the scale we have seen in some parts, tomus.
Not impossible but we've been on the lookout for it in a while. People would have at least noticed a reasonable spike in the deaths of those with pre-existing heart conditions.

The long and short of it is that it's unlikely, although not impossible, that Covid-19 has already spread so far, given the need to compare to Italy, Spain, Germany etc. But I'd love it if that were true, as then it would not be nearly so deadly.

Who’s ‘we’ Jim?
"We" as in anyone who was paying attention to the Coronavirus situation over January/February. I'd like to think that includes plenty of top officials in the government and NHS.
Yes but I'm always picking up colds and I thought that it was related to my pms as I always get a cold during pms .
no cold here, i don't get them ordinarily..

Jim, //"We" as in anyone who was paying attention to the Coronavirus situation over January/February. //

Oh, so many of us. Thank god for that! For one awful moment I thought you meant the experts were asking amateurs to help with research. Phew! What a relief! That was a bit misleading Jim.
Exactly one person will have been misled by that, and even she wasn't.

Pardon?
// But I'd love it if that were true, as then it would not be nearly so deadly.// Jim

yes apologies for ridiculing the Trumpists ( ya gonna be in Church by Easter and it all gonna way)

this is the view of the Oxford School [david spiegelhalter]- rather than Imperial College ( 'youre all doomed; Zhukov et al )

Oxford says the infection rate is up to Herd immunity levels 60% and there fore it will tail off
and not only that - but no one is dying who wouldnt have -

that is 100 = = 35y 50 y olds were dying from covid 19 - this week then you would expect 100 deaths in that cohort so there are no excess deaths

others have said that there are assumptions unwarranted in the argument and it is invalid .....

North Manchester A+E up t road - is reputed to be like Kano's ( a ref to Fred Kano's circus 1910 ! I think) which it usually isnt
