On Sky just now with the shadow chancellor Anneliese Dodds, so no link, labour are calling for more facts and figures on the decisions being mad.
I totally agree with labour. The Government cannot just continue with the 'we and the so called experts' know better so we are not going to give you the exact reason we came to our actions.
Sir Kiers opportunity to shine here I think. I am sure I am not the only one to question the current Governments actions.
Supporting the government doesn't mean giving a rubber stamp to everything it does. It means helping it to fix any mistakes you think it's making. Here's an OP from someone who is very much not Labour, has been on Johnson's side for years, and *still* criticism is interpreted as "petty politics". Unbelievable.
Interesting. So you dont care how decisions are being made, even though this is something totally new and there is no benchmark for the public at large to use?
Do you knot think that lack of information causes dis-information and conspiracy theories to grow potentially leading to civil unrest?
I think the government should come together as one now and be included with any decisions being made, they should be showing a united front in these unprecedented times
Youngmafbog - I totally agree with you. They're being very evasive about the number of deaths in care homes and in the community - yes, I appreciate that the stats on these lag behind the hospital stats but I still get the impression that we're only being told half-truths.
Personally I feel we get enough information - we’re bombarded with it day in and day out. I tend to watch only the first 10 minutes or so of the news and then switch it off. It’s depressing enough without wanting more.
Furthermore at a time like this I think everyone - Labour included - should be supporting the government - not making waves. This is not the time to play petty politics.
>They're being very evasive about the number of deaths in care homes and in the community
No. They are included in the ONS figures which are freely available.
The Government are doing their level best in unprecedented and uncharted circumstances.
Now is not the time for party politics or point scoring. Labour under Corbyn would have been diabolically shambolic so to start petty squabbling for ones own ends at the present time is rather irksome, but then I expected nothing less.
The Government are making the decisions based on the best medical advice available, so why should what other people think, who dont have access to this information, have any weight on future actions.
Yes...I really have no confidence in the current government doing the best things for the country as a whole..I think they are far more interested in ensuring their own comfort.
I would agree YMB if I could trust the left to be sensible with the information. Sadly the nasty left in all quarters have of late demonstrated they cannot resist trying to spin everything into a political attack. Just look at the bile spat forth by our resident lefties in the last few weeks.
