The same as they always did. That he was a
foul-mouthed racist. Or, as Bernard would say, "A RICH, foul-mouthed racist" But he was funny. Only trouble was, that once you'd seen Manning, you'd seen it all, as far as his act went. Always the same rouine wherever he went. However, I have it on good authority that he was very popular with a member of the Royal Family, for whom he performed private concerts.
Now, away from the important issue. There is a company in this country who had their beginnings with the slave trade. They made a fortune. They are now a global company. Their head office is in the North of England. You will have seen their vehicles all over the country, because they are also involved in contract warehousing and distribution, as well as international sea freight. They employ a huge number of people in this country and abroad. One or two of you might have worked for this company over the years, I don't know. I aint gonna mention their name because when certain people realise how this company started, I've no doubt their vehicles would be targeted by the mobs. Tis history, folks!

Yes I'd forgotten the N word was used in that episode, which, incidentally, was edited out by the BBC 7 years ago. The version removed is unedited. In some ways a shame because actually it's the "No no no I said, these people are w***" which is the funniest line in the episode, and nails the major's attitude hilariously.
What I find amazing is the speed with which mob rule has suddenly overturned various aspects of our culture.
I am sure that in the thirty - forty years since these 'offensive' programmes were broadcast, and certainly within the several hundred years since the contentious statues were erected - a black civilian has suffered a violent death at the hands of a police officer.
So why, in the space of a few days, as an entire sub-species of aggressive idiots been allowed to hold sway over entire swathes of street furniture and broadcast entertainment?
