I have signed the petition - there are many non-human family members who suffer because of the random use of fireworks. Special occasions only should be sufficient.

I have been lucky that none of my animal friends have been bothered by fireworks.

thank you wolf. If you use any kind of social media I'd be most grateful if you would share it. I have to say that when the vet came in March this year to send my boy on, my first thought was that at least he wouldn't have to live through another firework season. Round me it starts at halloween or before and goes on till christmas then new year. I still have his brother who is badly affected but not so badly as his brother was.

The main firework display is visible from my flat, on the first Bonfire night, I found the cats sitting watching the fireworks. I think that the double glazing and the warmth from the room contributed to their enjoyment.

Shared on facebook - I am lucky that my dogs are not bothered but for the past three years I have been called out to help find/retrieve dogs that have panicked and escaped - sadly two did not survive.

I thought it was gun shot but was assured it was fireworks - at 8pm tonight in bright sunlight - why?

thank you all. Barsel, its like rolling a rock....you have to do more than push it once, find its only moved an inch and give up! Tambo I have no idea why people do fireworks in daylight, they do it round me too.

What, sign for more government interference into citizen's affairs ? Now were it restricted to not selling commercial size to the general public, that would be a different matter but is it stands, not a chance. It's just further erosion of our western freedoms; which apparently aren't valued by some.

your choice OG. The hole in your argument is that there is no law that says that my neighbour, your neighbour and so on can't legally buy 20 domestic sized repeater "cakes" and set them off all at the same time, and do this EVERY SINGLE day of the year.

There are nuisance laws in existence. So hardly any hole. And were there one the sort of control being petitioned for is no way to solve it. One doesn't cut off one's foot to remove a corn.

I wouldn't be so put out if it were only once or twice a year -Nov 5th and Jan 31st - but it is seemingly endless. Thursday clapping round here was replaced by Thursday fireworks. Everybody and his uncle who celebrate a birthday just has to have a few minutes 'bang-a-bang' to accompany the 'Happy Birthday to you...'. And, as has already been said, why set them off in broad daylight. I always believed the 'thrill' of fireworks was visual rather than audio. If my dog could operate the laptop, he would have signed it. He can't, so I've done it in his stead.
