This is exactly why I won't be travelling until this madness is over. Why are these eejits so desperate do visit another country? Now it's a field day for the travel companies who can charge what they like. This was always bound to happen.

Thank you Prudie, that was written with me in mind, we booked to go and see our friends and take stuff over to them which they bought from Amazon and gave my address as it was much cheaper that way, I've got a motor cycle filter, gloves, tee shirts , you name it but I digress, we booked when told it was safe to do so and now I really do not want to go but I can't cancel , we certainly didn't book on the " oh we must have a holiday abroad whatever whim" either or couldn't wait to // sit all day on a deckchair burning like a sausage/// but as you rightly say, it's pointless saying this :0)
Bobbi it's weird to say this but I really wouldn't worry about not being able to choose to cancel because your airline will almost certainly cancel your flight at the last minute. That's exactly what has happened to us on Thursday. No explanation, no help, nothing. Just an email - your flights are cancelled, to add insult on their website 'in order to protect our staff' have limited phone lines open to a short section of weekdays and don't answer anyway.
Well well well, for 6 months you watch a pandemic wiz round the world in no time at all, crushing world economies, bringing the airlines to their knees and the rest of the travel industry, some have even gone bust during this time, many people have spent months fighting to get their money back, ( some still are) for holidays booked before the pandemic, some holiday agents are breaking all the rules in the book to avoid returning their money even though in many cases its the law to do so. Now for the ones that have booked a holiday during the pandemic for this year, did you really really not see all these problems on the news day in, day out ??? But you still go ahead with booking a holiday abroad ?? out of the frying pan into the fire springs to mind. Then you have the ones that choose to blame Boris and his government because they said you can travel, but choose to ignore, that they also said they didn't really advise it!! You now have millions of selfish people coming back from holiday on planes that could be full of the virus, ( because if you didn't catch it when on holiday, you have every chance of catching it on the flight back) they won't be able to return to work, ( that's if their not already being paid by the government not too) destroying the economy even more. I wonder how many have not only had holiday pay from their employer, not worked for 5 months, but had 80% of their wages paid by government, and decided to give that money to support economies abroad? Don't come back to the UK complaining about anything your brains are in your boots, if you have any at all? And if you lose money on your holiday booking, ( the one you booked in the last 6 months) tuff, your own silly fault!!
From 3rd July news "The British government has announced its plans to get the tourism industry moving and allow people to travel again.
England will form air bridges with a number of countries that will allow Brits to travel and holiday abroad this summer.
Among those countries announced is Spain, which is a popular holiday destination with the Brits."
The only consistency has been how thoroughly unpleasant some people on this site are.

People should just be keeping abreast of the situation and using common sense. The Government did say people could travel again, but if sensible would have realised there were still risks involved, and peaks can happen quite quickly. If people were willing to take risks then that's fine. But they should not be blaming the government if they have lost out. It was a gamble.
Woof that's why there's no blame being apportioned ,things are changing daily but calling people ( not you by the way) for booking a holiday abroad when HE tried to help the holiday companies and airlines ?? I refer to TCs ever ongoing rants , I'm not bothered him calling me selfish, he can call me what he likes, I won't lose any sleep :0)))
Bobbi, I dont see any reference to you in TC's post. I really do feel the same as him. And to be honest, I don't see you as selfish, but I do think it was a bit silly to book because Boris said you could, when it was obvious there were risks, and he emphasised that decisions could be quite quickly reversed.
