I notice there's nothing about this as yet. I guess ABers only really care about negative stories about Harry and Meghan.

They've paid back their debt to the taxpayer. Good. It's the right thing to do, although it won't stop the whiners whining about them as I'm sure they're well aware. Now, which of the other royals will be next to cough up I wonder.

Feel free to derail the thread with your usual schoolmarmish tutting and stating the obvious.
You'll wish you hadn't mentioned that in a minute Mozz :-)
To naomi (obviously!!)

I'm starting to regret this thread in general to be honest Mamya.

I guessed that wasn't aimed at me Andy. I've been called many things, but never schoolmarmish.

Mozz, AH was the first member here and, moreover is a mod who should know better than to post the childish nonsense he posted at 23:11. That sort of thing only creates problems.

Bedtime for me. Night all.
It's quite apparent, to most people on here anyway, that this thread was thrown off track last night when someone came galumphing onto the thread and pontificated precisely what a producer does.

Naomi at 23.18 - for the umpteenth time - neither my longevity or my Mod status bind me to some sort of higher code of ethics - as you have pointed out twice, I have the right to post what I want as well.

You have come the schoolmarm before, and I have called you out on it, and I always will.

It leads to derailing, but you started it. Play teacher and get told - you stop, I stop, you (and others) don't start, I don't start.

Right, back to the discussion....
Sanmac, my post was valid, it didn't throw anything off anywhere.

You are letting your personal animosity get in the way of your perspective.

Argue my point by all means, but don't nitpick simply because the observation is mine and you don't like me, that's juvenile.

//my post was valid, it didn't throw anything off anywhere.//

My original reply to this is still valid (you were too busy being offended by Sanmac to notice it), that as a successful actress on American TV, I'm sure Meghan would have plenty of contacts she can utilize, if not directly, then through others.

Thank you Tomus, that's exactly what I think too. NOTHING will stop theor detractors. I wish them luck in their endeavours.
Unfortunately, I have to leave now as it's supper-time around these here parts; therefore, I'll have to leave you and the rest of your friends on here, if you have any, to carry on.
That was to the resident ah.
Mozz at 00.13 - first of all, the Duchess is unlikely to have useable connections from her career on Suits, it was filmed in Canada, so any contacts from there won't be much use.

Plus, if Netflix was really laying out its money for genuine producers, it would expect them to arrive with experience reflecting their price tag, ready to go.

The reality is, the Sussex's may be bigging up their profile by calling themselves 'producers' but Netflix will be under no illusions about what they are getting for their money.

It's not technical skill they want, excellent experienced producers can be bought for a fraction of the money on the table here.

It's the royal connection they want - that is worth the money, that's what they are buying.

Anything else is window dressing.

Oh, and I wasn't being 'offended' by Sanmac, he's nowhere near that important!!

I'm sure it doesn't take much for someone whose been in the industry for most of her adult life to pull in some favours, and yes, even use their reputations (or indeed infamy) to create a workable off camera team to serve purpose.

I'm happy to let them try to succeed before condemning them for failure, but it seems that many are desparate for them to fail. Frankly, it doesn't matter what they create, there are those who will attempt to ridicule or dismiss their efforts, and that is what this thread was intended to detail.
Question Author
Grammar fail with whose/who's mix up.
Mozz, you may be right, but think about it - doesn't calling them 'producers ' sound better than simply saying 'We're hiring them for their royal kudos ' which is the reality of the situation.
Question Author
Not really, it says "We're hiring them to be producers." It's no different from having some Hollywood star as a producer, which happens often.
Question Author
Sorry Andy, I misread what you wrote. Yes, of course who they are has helped get them this deal, but they can't help who they are, and that's not to say they won't make a decent job in this endeavour.
