Religions almost all preach peace, right up to the shout of 'Charge!' Fighting in the name of a god who loves everybody. Certifiable the lot of them.

// Evangelism?//
please reserve evangelist for the Fab Four
you - Matthew Mark Luke and John (*)

and for people like Trump - "money grubbing close fisted cruel evangelical will suffice"

thank you - - note -ical on the end. - [you know like spire and spiracle are different, or cat and catkin]

(*) - bless this bed that I lie on! those four. John has a double role as evangelist and apostle - and thus met Jesus. Not many people on AB know that but by god that doesnt stop them blaaaarting! - long live free speech I say

"I see the resident leftie thinks that all those that dont follow his doctrine are extremists. What a surprise. " - Allen isn't a lefty, he's a Thatcherite, he just thinks he's a socialist.
And PP is confused as usual. Another one who needs to learn a bit more.

Just another day on AB. :o)
The dogs are snarling today! I’ll just run my stick along the bars again and hear them howl.

Woof woof now lads (and lassies).

So speaks the man who preaches playing the ball, not the man. What a hypocrite! You've fallen at the first hurdle again Allen.
When in Rome, noami, when in Rome.

the examples of Hypocrisy from Allen are many and varied.
Allen, your hypothetical Romans don't do what you do. Best you get a flight back to reality. Your aggressive posts impress no one ... well at least no one with a modicum of sense.
naomi - // However, since Christianity is the biggest religion on the planet, employing his logic, Christians should be the foremost culprits but they’re not because unlike Islamists they do not have a distinct objective. //

Statistically, I would agree with you.

But in real terms, I doubt Christianity is the largest religion in terms of day-to-day adherence, and therefore a proportionately larger willingness to resort to practical action to enforce beliefs.

On a tick-box exercise, Christianity is the largest religion, but how many of those counted actually practise their faith daily? A small proportion I would suggest.

I am a baptised Christian, and on any form I have completed in the last forty years that asked for 'Religion' I would have ticked 'C of E', and been counted in the stats.

Of course, I am not a Christian, and in terms of meaningful belief, I would suggest that a good eighty per-cent of 'Christians' are not so in any way that actually makes a difference.

Contrast that with the number of Muslims who do practise their faith daily, and the stats look a little different.
AH, //Christianity is the largest religion, but how many of those counted actually practise their faith daily? A small proportion I would suggest.//

I would suggest otherwise. Your experiences are confined to this country and do not reflect Christianity worldwide.
I agree with Naomi. Christians tend to be much more devout in those countries where they are in a minority.
naomi - // Your experiences are confined to this country and do not reflect Christianity worldwide. //

You have no idea what my 'experiences' are, and where they are or ar not confined to.

You have your school marm hat on again.
Jackdaw, I didn't say that. Christians are not in the minority in South America, southern Europe, and the Philippines, for example, where Catholicism reigns supreme.

AH, if you knew anything about it you wouldn't claim that only a small proportion of Christians are practising because that simply isn't true. It didn't take you long to revert to your usual rudeness and therefore my discussion with you is over.
If the problem is "Islam" one and indivisible as Naomi suggests, then what is her solution?
naomi - // It didn't take you long to revert to your usual rudeness and therefore my discussion with you is over. //

Theland, who is far ruder to you than I am ever am, accuses you of exactly the same high-handed attitude, yet you debate to the point of deathly tedium and back again all day every day that comes.

Interesting, one rule for one ...
Untitled, my solution to what?
You're arguing that islam itself is the main cause of modern terrorist incidents like this. I'm curious what you think should be done about it, if you think that the problem is Islam.
Statistically, I would agree with you.
( I love the way someone can say they didnt say something and say it enough times and it becomes true - not only on AB ! )

o god what does that have to do wivvit -
well Pontius Pilate turns Jesus back to the civl authorities and the people cry - crucify him!
so yes I agree statistics is a truly christian subject

I must um learn about it
Untitled, people will believe as they will.
But what is your solution?

You clearly think that Islam is the problem when it comes to terrorism. Do you think nothing can be done about it or do you think something should be done?

If all you're going to say is "islam is the problem islam is the problem" and insist that islam is unreformable and uncompromising, then deliberately leave what should be done as a big unanswered question then that looks a bit sinister.
