Re the OP - I would suggest that it is the cost of the statue that is the contentious issue, rather than the subject.

I resent both the statue and the cost.
Actually Emmie, Lincolnshire is flat, boring and stinks of cabbages - on those grounds maybe it's the right place for an effigy of the dreadful woman.
