I think so both sides seem happy as do many commentators, even the ABBC.

Well, it's a damn sight better than no deal, which is the alternative. I get the odea.that some folk would rather that had happened just so they could paint Boris as the villain. He's done a good job in this instance.

Will the UK fishing industry have full access to UK waters from January 1st 2021? What about in three or four years' time?
OG has it @1010
My understanding is that every EU member nation has technically always had full access to all fishing grounds within EU waters. However, all of them are bound to stay within certain maximum catch limits (quotas) whether in home waters or other EU national waters - for conservation purposes all fishing is governed by a maximum catch per each species within EU waters regardless of who is fishing - and then some nations have a certain quota allocated for certain species in certain areas of those waters. What has been at issue in the Brexit negotiations is whether the UK was to ban altogether any fishing by non-UK registered vessels in UK waters. That has apparently not happened and, if I understand correctly, under this agreement EU vessels will reduce their total catch in UK waters by 25% over five years.
Who polices these fishing quotas to make sure they are not being broken ?
We're not in the EU and the Transition ends on 31.12.20. If, as is claimed, "We have taken back control of our money, borders, laws, trade and our fishing waters”, will our fleets have full access to fish stocks in UK fishing waters from January 1st?
Where's anne and her YAWN?
Do you have an answer to my question?
Have you answered the original Q?
Corby, you will have to wait for the full report of the deal to be announced.

As I understand it TCL: no, but EU access tapers over the next five years. There are quotas for particular fish types - which is why there was all the last-minute wrangling.
Is it good for all if we do not have control of UK fishing waters from January 1st?
I'm not sure yet, how many fags will I be able to bring back? :-))
If the UK does not have full control over fishing in UK waters from January, is the claim, "We have taken back control of our money, borders, laws, trade and our fishing waters” false?
Corby,//Is it good for all//
It has been reported that we got 43% of what we asked for as opposed the EU getting 17%.How is that not good? There is far more to this deal than just control of fishing.
So you're saying it is a bad deal then CORBY?
Am I missing something? How did we ever lose control of our currency? We've always had border controls for people entering the country, even from other EU countries and Macron has just proved you could always shut borders at will, anyway.
Corby scroll down to what Boris said about fishing control.

The Devil will be in the detail.
The PM said, "We will be an independent coastal state with full control of our waters, with the UK share of fish in our waters rising substantially from roughly half today to closer to two thirds in five and a half years' time"

That's a rise from about 50% to 66% over five and a half years. A sixteen percentage point increase sounds small considering all the hoohah over quotas.

ROY, have you seen the full agreement yet? If no, how can you or anyone of us say it is good or no?
Corby// how can you or anyone of us say it is good or no?//
From what we know already e.g no tariffs on goods, no EU courts ruling on uk. etc.
