Why is the SNP wasting effort and resources on pursuing an illegal "referendum" when they should be fighting the war on COVID-19 with the rest of the UK?

All you English"Scots"should come up and live in Scotland.A couple of days in the Weegieland slums, and you would be back to England in a flash,at the same time building a new Hadrians Wall behind you.Scotland sure aint a land of milk and honey with the yokels munching on heather and living next-door to Brigadoon.

//Nope, can't have green, it will be associated with Islam.//

Oh for Pete's , Tora, you turn talking out your sphincter into an art form sometimes.

Besides, the Welsh green is lighter than the Islamic flag.

^^^^ you've shattered TCL's illusion there!
I find your remarks extremely offensive ynnafymmi. You obviously know nothing about Scotland or its people. London, the murder capital of the UK - want to brag about that?
^ He's scottish isn't he??
An illegal referendum put forward by a party wanting independence doesn’t really mean anything unless they actually get over half the eligible population voting in favour. The referendum is illegal so most of those not supporting independence don’t go to vote as they would just be endorsing it; at least that is what happened here in Catalonia.
//In the Brexit vote, no-one knew what the final terms would be and if took almost four year to get them.//

That didn’t matter. The vote was whether to remain a member or not. It was made very clear by the government what leaving (in general) would mean. It was also stated by the government that leaving the EU meant leaving the Single Market and the Customs Union. The time from June 2016 to December 2019 was spent by many people – both politicians and non-politicians - trying to actually thwart those aims entirely by requiring the UK to remain in the EU or retain some sort of “Associate Membership” with the EU, i.e. not leaving at all. In particular there were huge efforts to see the UK remain in the Single Market and Customs Union. These terms did not have to be spelt out prior to the referendum as they were a given. The EU is its Single Market and Customs Union and to have remained in them would have meant remaining in the EU but simply crossing our name off the list of members – rather like Northern Ireland finds itself now.

The year following our official departure (the “transition period” of 2020) was spent negotiating our future relationship. It was not debating our membership or the terms of it. That ended on 31.12.2019 and that was all the electorate was asked to vote on.

I think it would be a good idea for the UK government to set out its stall before the Scots vote again. As a bare minimum it should be made clear that there should be no “transition” arrangements which would allow Scotland to continue to be funded from the UK Exchequer and Scotland would be expected to commit to repaying its share of the UK’s National Debt. There would also be restrictions on Scottish people permanently settling anywhere in the UK “Rump” after independence and any would-be settlers would have to apply for permission to settle. None of these would be open to negotiation.
@14.41.You are joking arent you,Maggie.Take a walk round Govanhill or Coatbridge(where the locals are so Scottish they hang Irish tricolours from their windows)or anywhere in the East End of Glasgow where the average life-span is the lowest in Europe. Then tell me my post is offensive. You dont know the meaning of the word, hun.
Lol you'll have a job getting through to Maggie, she wears constant rose coloured specs where Scotland and 'wee jimmy' are concerned!
Lots of Scots fly the tricolour to commemorate the Easter Uprising and the Irish seeking independence from Britain. And Scotland played a huge part in helping Irish gain that independence.

Quite apt I'd say.
...and a lot of Scots died at the hands of these scumbags. If they are so happy about Ireland let them return there. But of course they wont....they get more dole money here in (hated)Britain.
Oh dear.

Enjoy.

"London, the murder capital of the UK - want to brag about that?"

Err - isn't it obvious that London would have a higher murder total than anywhere else given the total population, including Greater London, is over 10m, with the next largest population, being Manchester, is just 2.7m.

Your statement is utterly bizarre. If Glasgow had a population of 10m, and London had Glasgow's population of 1.3m, then Glasgow would be the city with the highest total number of murders.
"The economic hit from the two events is estimated to be the equivalent of an income loss of between £2,000 and £2,800 per person every year."

Bringing them into line with the subsidies they currently enjoy from England!
