Keir Starmer says that his wife works in the NHS and is a key worker but never says what role she has in the NHS....it has been said that she is an Occupational Therapist which she is not, then that she works in Occupational Health (???) by qualification she is a solicitor but does anybody know what her actual NHS job is?

//the only not qualified staff who work in Occupational Health are admin staff //

Really? Not managers, consultants, H&S and HR advisors?

All that matters is her employer classes her as a key worker.
people who work in national government are classed as critical workers
The question is, is there really any deliberate obfuscation, or have they just not felt the need to go into it in detail publicly? I don't see why they should've disclosed details.
Sorry why should all key workers have to go around telling everyone their job title so they can be classed as one? That's ridiculous.

but once more woofy, why SHOULD it be clear to me and you? as long as she and her boss know what she's doing, no need to give it another thought
Woof, I think she has requalified and is just keeping it private. I hope you know- I have every respect for your knowledge and experience, and always listen to you, but it isn't always in date.
Her details not being public, doesn't mean she hasn't qualified.

I've had a scoot about online, and all I can find is, as you said in the OP, "occupational health". Could be anything I guess. Are they under any obligation to disclose her exact role? It seems like you've taken a specific interest in digging into it.
As above really. She doesn't appear to have any qualifications that would explain a role in Occupational Health other than admin. She certainly is not an Occupational Therapist as was originally stated in multiple papers and magazines.
If KS hadn't used her role as employed within the NHS in his comments today then I probably wouldn't have bothered...but now he has rung the bell by mentioning her employment publicly...well I just do wonder what it is that she does.
Right, I'll leave you get on with it as it's clear that bednobs, Chelle and I are asking the same questions. I don't want it looking like we've teamed up on Woofy.

Pixie it does mean she hasn't requalified as any of the health professions that have protected title status. All the records are open to be searched. You don't have to have any details on there apart from your name but the public must be able to satisfy themselves that you hold the qualifications that you claim. Lady Victoria appears to have been working in the NHS since at least mid 2020, maybe earlier going by the media so I don't think its just a matter of a public record not updated.
Is that the name she works under?
The government definition of a keyworker includes all NHS staff and colleagues in partner organisations who support the delivery of healthcare services.

If she works for the NHS, she's a keyworker.

"Really? Not managers, consultants, H&S and HR advisors?

chelle In the NHS, Occy health managers, consultants and H and S advisors will hold appropriate clinical qualifications plus whatever certification is needed, they may even be senior clinicians who work for part of their hours in Occupational Health and see patients or manage clincal services for the rest. HR again will be a separate department who give HR advice when needed.
and I kind of agree with you....except there is obfuscation about it and now KS has used his wifes job as part of his public comments....if he is going to do that they I think its reasonable to say what that job is.

omg the dreaded ENDS that really terrifies me

also your statement is not true.
It's not the first time he has brought his wife's employment status to the fore.

From last September.

If privacy is wanted then that's fine and acceptable but stop bringing her up this way.
Does make me laugh. Ever-so modest Starmer says he doesn't want to be referred to as Sir Keir yet goes along with every broadcaster calling him just that. One word to the broadcasters and they wouldn't. Liar.

"Is that the name she works under?"
You can't practice under an alias. You may keep your single name but it must be clear on the register who you actually are.
It would be interesting to get to the bottom of this one.
Question Author
yes....yes it would.
There is form for this. Margaret Thatcher had a sister, Muriel, who did work in the health service. There was an agreement between the media and her office that no mention would be made, the Press being at risk of being denied access to Thatcher.
if the details of her employment were made public, wouldn't there be a risk that people could find out where/when she works and disrupt her work?
Are you saying that because he's mentioned her job twice, she should give all the details?
