Keir Starmer says that his wife works in the NHS and is a key worker but never says what role she has in the NHS....it has been said that she is an Occupational Therapist which she is not, then that she works in Occupational Health (???) by qualification she is a solicitor but does anybody know what her actual NHS job is?

Spungle, not a jab, a TEST
Woof, I’m curious as to why you’re so het up about this. Is it because she was referred to by the wrong job title or because her family got a covid test?
I'm confused. Why shouldn't he say that his wife works in the NHS and is classed as a key worker when his wife works in the NHS and is classed as a key worker?
'not all NHS staff are keyworkers' . Interesting where you draw the line, if it wasn't for our staff supporting us from the office, the equipment we need to do our day to day job would not be ordered, the outpatients would not get their appointments organised, the notes available for consultations etc. I suspect some of Woofgang's curiosity arises from her professional background and the longstanding public confusion around what occupational therapists actually do, and even in the ward setting it's a question we're often asked, and our O.T.s frequently referred to as 'occupational health'.
Agree in a way cambellking but isn't it frontline nhs workers who should often prioritised as there much more likely to come into close contact with patients??
^Often =have been
well I was of the opinion that if you shot our medical director then nothing would happen
Didnt try it tho

what did HE think? o god he cd yap for england and often did
Being the A&E pain I expect!
This thread is positively Morganesque.

campbellking I don't draw a line anywhere. I do know personally an NHS employee who is not designated as a keyworker and they tell me that most of their (small) department are not either. They aren't bothered by this.
I too find the way that this thread has gone interesting. I asked a question to which it appears no one knows the answer and gave my reason for asking. This is a place to ask questions and get answers is it not?
While this did start off for me with noticing potential misuse of a protected title, I am not het up.....it seems that the question has het some others up though?
It's hardly surprising no one knows exactly what she does.
Why would they?
I must say I've read through most if not all of the stuff on here, and I can't see really what, fundamentally, is the point of the question. All you will get is a lot of speculation and no one will be any the wiser. Added to which, I get the feeling that no answer would satisfy anyway.
basically, it got me het up because it seems like you are just being nosey :) People are entitled to their privacy
It's also not really news
Am pretty sure she's a solicitor /adviser/legal consultant rather than a medical person but she must work for NHS in some way and Kier would be missing a trick not to use that fact to show his family commitment to are NHS. If Boris's partner or children were nurses or doctors or worked for NHS in some capacity am sure he'd mention it to.

ich did somebody change the rules and say that all the questions on here have to have a point? Gosh that'll keep the mods busy!

I asked the question because I thought someone might know the answer tout court.

It honestly is as simple as wanting to know what job she does. And yes, that would have satisfied me.

and finally I posted it in news because SKS made a public comment in which he mentioned his wife's working in the NHS.
Question Author
oh and bobbin, she can't be working in a solicitor's role as she is no longer professionally registered. This means that any NHS agency would be unlikely to use her in an advisory role as her legal advice would have no more standing than the milkman's.
